Absolutely stunning!! Such a beautiful place to visit in the Adelaide hills. Parking is a flat rate of $4. Multiple toilet facilities available. No cafeteria or kiosk, take your own food & drinks with you. So many walking paths, some quite steep. Large Range of trees, flowers, shrubs. My favourite part is the fern gully. Multiple bench rest stops located throughout the gardens. It’s lovely how there is a big pond that you can walk around with a bridge crossing alongside it. Very well maintained. Gardens gates close at 4pm on weekdays and 5pm on weekends and public holidays. We also saw a variety of bird life. The autumn colours could still be seen April Excellent place to hike or wander with family or friends. There were groups of people enjoying picnics, plenty of space for that!
Beautiful landscape. Enjoy the calm breeze with family and friends. Open for public from 10am till 4pm On Sunday. The rest of the days I'm not sure. I paid $1.30 for 1 hour parking. I think.... plenty of uphill walk, good for exercising or just slow and steady walk.
Impeccably maintained garden which sprawls through the hills of the Mount Lofty ranges. The variety of plant species and themed 'gullies' were outstanding. You can take a short walk or a long hike but be warned as it is very easy to get lost as there are too many paths and not enough signs!
Gorgeous gardens. Lots of shady area to set up picnic. Coffee bus was an awesome addition also. We enjoyed walking around in the breeze and viewing all the scenery. Only annoying thing the road was closed for an ‘event’ which was no where to be seen and we had to lug all our picnic furniture up a steep hill to get into the park. They said the car park was full but when we got to the top there were plenty of free parks. We weren’t happy but didn’t let it ruin our day.
Stunning place to visit. Best times of the year to visit I must say is the start of Autumn in April and the end of Winter in September. The autumn leaves are beautiful here with many nice tracks to go on walks and endless gardens to explore. In August/September, the Magnolia trees bloom to form the most beautiful scenes in Adelaide.
Beautiful gardens that look just as pretty in winter. $4 parking all day. Food truck with hot drinks and snacks in the lower carpark on weekends. Steep walks on the way up but plenty of wheelchair and pram friendly paths. A good spot to clear your head.
Very nice park. Many options for picnic locations from wide open planes, to smaller clearings for more privacy. The lower car park is better for those that are looking to reach wider picnic areas while the upper car park is for the more private areas. As for sightseeing, there are many beautiful flowers and trees for you to witness. There also some local fauna: bandicoot, swans, ducks, etc.
You only need a couple of hours to enjoy these gardens close to Crafers. Do the lake walk then a few of the trails eg Rhododendron, fern. Free to enter but parking is not…$3-4 will suffice, and yes, you can use credit card…… and there is a Brace Girdle coffee van near the car park. The autumn colours were just starting in early April so end of April, early May should look great.
I love the drive to the Mount Lofty Botanic Garden! This place is honestly heaven and we are so lucky to have this in our state. There are an abundance of walking trails that are accessible by all, and there are also trails that you feel like you just stepped into another realm. Such a scenic and lovely place all throughout the year.
I worked here as a trainee years ago, was great to be able to experience the upkeep and different varieties of plants. Coming back as a dad with my kids and my camera was my highlight being able to let my kids enjoy the Autumn leaves and explore. Beautiful scenery great for the whole family, perfect spot for a nice picnic, event or tour! Always animals about especially keep an eye out for frogmouths and Eastern Spinebill that frequent the garden! There is a small waterfall here that if in flow is worth seeing. Parking is ok except if events are on. There is always a gardener on duty for any questions you might have:
