Parking on a Sunday was easy. The auditorium is far better than a decade ago. Brilliant concert by Eureka Brass.
dont get me wrong, mount clear college is filled with some lovely teachers, they have a great selection of classes you can take but unfortunately nice teachers and class selection isn't what makes a high school good. this school is incredibly bad at dealing with bullying my child was bullied by 3 different kids over the course of 3 years yet nothing was done about it. the students here are so incredibly rude and disrespectful. teachers are last to class, and the school generally cares more about the way their uniform looks more then their students education. they don't understand that not all students understand things in the way they explain it. there is no freedom with piecings or dyed hair.
Some staff are beyond rude. They offer little to no help to students clearly struggling, and when these students ask for help they are shrugged off. I would often cry before and after classes with certain teachers at the sheer lack of support offered! Nicole from the SHACC is awesome tho, super helpful and kind. Mrs O’Callaghan makes English worth it, she’s super witty and nice - a real asset. Miss Stewart is a legend. It’s really nice to have teachers like them, that put students first and not show favouritism!
Look- I usually leave more appropriate reviews then this one, but I just can't. Being a current student here, it might as well take a whole police crew to get me even out of bed to go here, the staff always say they'll "chase up on things" and they never do. Even yesterday, a friend of mine was threatened for an after-school detention for just wanting to go to the toilet. The only thing keeping me going, is the fact I can transfer in a year. MCC is not the place to be.
Originally the only reason i came to this school was because my friends were, and in the beginning it was the best decision i made. They were open towards individuality, piercings, hair colour and even tattoos, I could express myself completely! The teachers all supported students, mentally, physically, at an education stance etc. Now some of the teachers vice principals and the principal herself are being completely idiotic and old fashioned. "we are preparing you for the work force," sure, and what work force doesn't allow piercings and hair colour nowadays? I've been lucky enough to get away with it thanks to my lovely mother fighting along side me since the beginning of this ban. School uniform I'm willing to conform, i don't care but forcing me to take out a HEAD BAND because its not the school colours? what accessories i wear should be none of their business. the education system itself has gone to complete hell, back in 2015 it was brilliant, I enjoyed the classroom, i enjoyed learning and it was easy to understand. Now some teachers downright BULLY students! They tell the year 10's now, myself being one of them, that we need to grow up and start acting like adults yet they treat us like grade 2's in the classroom! from my view point most of us are fairly good students, yet they look down on us like we'll never amount to anything in our lives. I've been told by the year 10, 11 and 12 vice principal outright that i will not pass and should drop out if i don't devout my life to study. 6 hours a day? no way. This school was one of the last schools who were FOR the students, FOR education and FOR individuality, now 95% of students i bet have a feeling of dread and fear every time they walk through the school doors, will i get expelled for my piercings today? Will my teacher harass me and undermine my abilities? Wake up mount clear, you've ruined yourself.
I do not find there to be any problems regarding the school in anyway. Most people will get upset about the piercings but at the end of the day that shouldn't be the main reason to rate the school so poorly. The teachers are wonderful and the students are....complicated. But compared to my previous school this one is excellent.
Great school with amazing facilities. Teachers are good at encouraging students to learn. Have an amazing wide range of subjects god students to choose from. Have an amazing production put together every year. Students fairly friendly but hallways too busy and students too loud. Besides that it's a great school that is rapidly growing, definetly recommend it.
Mt Clear college has excellent Vet courses. The music course is one of the best.
i enrolled about 2 years ago and all i can say is this, the lack of Shrek in classrooms is astronomically appalling, not only that but the canteen food takes along time to buy and its not even green?! When i first realized this i believed that this school was very pitiful, it was almost like a public high school. But then something changed my view and everything i thought about the school flipped. this was when the deja-vu songs started going on the speakers. This song not only changed my life but also made me remember the childhood memory of vines that had been locked away. i now feel zen with myself and i thank the school for it. But the langue teachers give us free stuff and they cool :
As a student at this school I can vouch for how horrible it is. Teachers don't take bullying serious enough but you get suspended for saying one bad word. On top of that there are sexist teachers and teachers who in general are horrid people. The school does not accommodate for all kinds of people as much as it wishes it did, plus they took away the LEAP program which was very beneficial and they changed the SEAL program and students now hate it. The school doesn't take student opinions seriously at all either. That's just a short list of SOME problems, all in all just a terrible school.
