My children attend and have been supported and challenged as individuals in a warm and accepting environment. They both have a positive view of school. Waldorf Education has enhanced their creativity and encouraged them to become independent, critical thinkers. I am grateful to the dedicated teachers and leadership.
I have not attended this school and cannot say if it is good or bad although the concept of Waldorf fascinates me. I am writing a review because I have a few questions about this school and Waldorf education and couldn't find any place with my answer. My first question is the vaccine policy of the school. Are the students here generally vaccinated? If so, what percentage if that is information I can have without breaching individual privacy. What are the attitudes toward vaccines within the community and the school? Secondly, I have heard things about kids in Waldorf education spending time being taught that elves, fairies, goblins etc are real like birds are real or the moon is real - not in a playful, imaginative way is this true?
I have 2 children at the school, 1 in the kindergarten and 1 in the primary school. My youngest son is neurodivergent and has been offered support and help to engage in the kindergarten life. I am incredibly grateful and cannot speak high enough if his teacher. My eldest in the primary school loves being at school and is enthusiastic to learn. They are both being provided with an education where they are valued as a whole person and given the opportunity to grow and develop into beautiful, well rounded people.
Expensive childcare for teens in a cult-like hills environment. Steiner education is beautiful. But this school has done nothing to prepare my child for life, and certainly has failed to provide a holistic educational experience, especially since my teen has some specific learning needs. I'm grateful that my child isn't roaming the streets or glued to inappropriate screen content 24/7, but with no tangible skills, knowledge, experience, self-development or vocational guidance, I fear for his future.
All 5 of my children have attended this school. 4 have now graduated, as excellent humans, with a social conscience, self-direction and interested in the world. The philosophy calls for a healthy lifestyle, reduced screentime, lots of outdoor play, creativity, art, music, gardening and lots of practical skills, which sets the child to be a well-rounded adult.
Made my child miserable due to things which are heavily graphic and cannot be described in this review. They are now in therapy trying to forget the horrifying actions that students and teachers have forever scarred on them. Shame on you all for such a terrible experience with my child, Their trauma will never be never forgotten.
A wonderful, natural setting in which to prepare young minds for the future. Instilling the values of strength, grace and skill into their lives
I visited the school for the spring fete or Beltane festival and it blew my mind. My only negative is that it’s a 2 hour drive from where we live. I wish all schools could be even half of what Waldorf is.
My child went there as a reluctant compromise whilst resolving several matters with the other parent. My child has thankfully now moved to a state school and is loving it. In my child’s first week at state school my child remarked how different it was as the teachers were not shouting at the children. My child loves the state school and has made many friends, feels safe and respected. My child now has the challenge of catching up academically. But at least Waldorf taught how to finger knit. My experience with the teaching staff at Waldorf is that they have no place near my child.
Really great school and great way of teaching. The grounds are outstanding.
