I tried to open an online account with this online bank and the request was denied without explanation. They may not have to provide an explanation because they are an online bank, but they sure could do a lot more to help encourage people to bank with them. Instead they tell you to try again in 6 months rather than helping to verify your identity and give you a proper explanation as to why you were denied. I feel discriminated against and treated as if I'm some would be criminal. No, thank you, I will not try again in 6 months. You've given me no MOTIVE-ation to do business with you!
Some of the highest interest you can get in Canada, and with the way their ccc and ss accounts interact, you get effectively the whole shebang for free. Every interaction I've had with customer service has been respectful and they've generally been on top of things. I kind of dislike you can't just penny drop to link external accounts, but w/e. On the whole solid bank - and one major perk is they actually offer a spending vector debit which many ebanks don't do in-house. Not sure what trouble these other people had signing up. Note: related to their overdraft offering, they do do a **hard** credit check. Not disclosed during signup which is kinda dirty but eh If you want a credit offering w/ cashback to pair, KOHO works brilliantly. Always check for referral links online! These ebanks often have gr8 signup perks!
I wish i could give zero star. None sense unprofessional service. When you send email good luck to hear back. Looks like that they simply do not care. OMG and the way that they want to check your identity is a joke. Its like they are so sacred and have no confident in what they are doing. I dont recommend them at all. If you want online go to EQ, Simply or Tangerine. Stay away and dont waste your time!
I have been trying to reach out to the customer service via telephone for several weeks now. No success. I have reached out via email, no response. WORST communication I have ever come across. This bank is not worthy of holding your hard earned money in.
Stunningly brutal customer service. Attempted to open an account and was rejected for some kind of technicality with either my address or occupation during Equifax review. Absolutely no discussion, no alternatives suggested, no explanation. Only this: "Our hands are tied...try again in six months." Based on my experience, two other members of my family are not going to apply for accounts. How can a financial institution continue to exist with such abysmal service in this day and age? UPDATE: You will see below an apology from Motive Financial, asking me to call or email with details of my problem. Please ignore this, as I spent three days working through all levels of customer service, including management, with no satisfaction. In my view, this apology is just a weak attempt to show responsiveness/attempt at resolution...they have no intention of rectifying this situation.
just closed my account after a few years with them. Was always reliable and easy to use functional online banking. Had a great savings account rate for years. Just too much to manage with other accounts so I called to close the account and got through immediately and wasn't asked any questions or given hard pushes why I was leaving or to get me to stay or anything which I respect a lot.
What a joke dealing with these incompetent people at Motive Financial. Despite providing them with simple written instructions they were determined and were able to screw it up. Bank somewhere else.
Tried to open a savings account and was told not able to open. Try again in 6 months. No reason given or anything. Emailed and still no response. Probably not worth the hassle reading other reviews with similar issues.
Abysmal and appalling service. You are basically scraping the bottom of the financial barrel when utilizing this bank. Customer service is non-existent. I emailed numerous times to confirm my withdrawal amounts and dates to use the interac transfer system. Katie B. was apparently to busy or rude to respond. Nevertheless, I am in he process of moving all my funds out. This disgraceful bank and its petty customer service reps place a 20K monthly cap on interac withdrawals, 10K weekly and 3K daily, making it difficult for clients to access or process transaction with OUR money. This bank like all these fiat crooks likes to think otherwise. Good riddance. Crypto could not be embraced quick enough to do away with these shylocks.
Canadian Direct Financial has been a headache since the beginning. We have had so much trouble with them for the past year. They changed their system a year ago and our money transfers were incorrect. We contacted them as they had given us too much money. They then took double the amount back and we called and sent emails. They tried to fix it and made things worse. Long story short, they did not fix things after hours of work on our end and have now emailed us to tell us that we owe them money, which we don't! We are so tired of this and we tried to resolve it a year ago and they couldn't figure it out!
