Word’s Getting Around — And It’s Well Deserved!nnA mate gave me a buzz the other day and mentioned his missus was at Moranbah Park over the weekend with her friends — and apparently, all the ladies were havin’ a good ol’ yarn about how top-notch the retro-themed restaurant at Ampol Moranbah is. They couldn’t stop raving about the delicious food and the brilliant chef behind it.nnFrom what I’ve heard — and now seen for meself — when the chef’s on in the evenings, the food is absolutely unreal. Proper out of this world! Seems like the whole town’s talkin’ about her cooking, and for good reason.nnI gave it a go last night, and I’ve just got a sec on my lunch break now to say — do yourself a favour and try their food. It’s seriously delicious. That Jumbo Mixed Grill? Mate… it’s next-level good. Bloody ripper feed!
I heard from a mate that the new chef at Ampol Moranbah has been gettin’ heaps of praise from folks around town — everyone’s been talkin’ about the meals she’s been serving up.nnSo, bein’ a chef meself, I thought I’d give it a go on my day off yesterday. I went in with a couple of mates and ordered the Mixed Grill and the Big Mate Burger.nnI had a quick yarn with the friendly staff at the counter and mentioned I’d heard a lot about their new chef’s cookin’. They let me know she was actually off that day — fair enough, everyone needs a break!nnStill, we went ahead and ordered lunch. In the Mixed Grill, the pork chops were cooked spot on, the bacon wasn’t too bad, and the snags — well, I reckon they could’ve used a bit more love. Overall, it was a decent meal, and the presentation was top-notch. For me, it was an average feed that could’ve been lifted with a bit more flair in the kitchen — but I know it would’ve been a different story if the chef had been on.nnNow, my mate reckoned his Big Mate Burger was bloody unreal — said it was ten times better than Macca’s, especially for the price. No complaints there!nnThe dine-in area really caught my eye — absolutely loved the retro vibes. Took me straight back to the good ol’ Happy Days TV show. Proper nostalgic feel, and it’s something you don’t see much of in country towns.nnThis was my first visit in about six months, and I was genuinely impressed by how big and tidy the place is now. It’s like a mini supermarket — very well set out, and everything was clean as a whistle.nnAll up, I’d give this business a solid 5 stars. Great vibes, lovely team, and a lot of heart in what they do.
One -Stop Location and proper old country charm.nnIf you’re lookin’ for a spot where you can grab just about everything under one roof, this place is the real deal — a top-shelf example of convenience done right. You’ve got five different businesses all rollin’ together under one roof: there’s a mini supermarket that’s neat as a pin, a ripper 1950s-style retro restaurant that’s straight outta a classic movie, a massive toy shop full of goodies for the young and young at heart, an Asian grocery with all the hard-to-find staples, and a solid range of auto and mobile accessories — talk about havin’ all bases covered!nnI gave their chef’s special a crack — just $29 for a feed that well and truly hit the spot. Gotta say, I was proper impressed. The meal was on point, served hot and fresh, and you could tell there was heart in the cookin’. I’ll definitely be back for round two next time I’m in town.nnThe service? Absolutely ace. The staff greeted me with a big warm smile and a real Aussie welcome — even checked in after the meal to see how I liked it, and did it with the kind of genuine kindness you don’t get everywhere these days. That smile alone was worth five stars!nnFrom where I stand, it’s a five-star experience all ’round — for the food, the vibe of the 50s-style dine-in, and the top-notch service. You don’t see many spots like this anymore — it’s got soul, character, and a team that truly gives a damn.
Top-Notch Spot, Always a Winner!nnThe crew here are absolute legends — always friendly, super helpful, and the customer service is five-star every time, no worries.nnI’ve been swingin’ by this place for the past 3 years, and it’s a real cracker of a setup — especially after the big reno at the start of 2025. It’s a top example of heaps of businesses under one roof, all workin’ a treat.nnThe retro-themed dine-in is a real showstopper — locals love it, and folks from towns around Moranbah are makin’ the trip just to check it out.nnAnd their new chef? What a weapon in the kitchen! The place gets proper busy in the arvo and evenings — can’t blame ‘em with food that good. Their new doner kebab is a game-changer, too — best I’ve had in ages!
An Absolute Five-Star Experience in Moranbah!nnAfter the recent renovations, this place truly feels like a five-star treat!nnThe retro-themed dine-in restaurant is an absolute standout — better than many big-city venues. I honestly didn’t expect to find such a high-quality dining experience in a small town like Moranbah. A few of my workmates even mentioned they no longer drive to Mackay for weekend dinners, saying this spot has outshone what Mackay has to offer.nnAfter hearing so much positive feedback, I decided to try their Chicken Kiev myself — and wow, it was absolutely delicious!nnThe store itself has been completely transformed. After Coles, this is hands down the best supermarket-style shopping experience in town.nnAnd the toy shop? It’s massive! Packed with a wide variety of toys that locals used to travel 170 km to Mackay to find. Now, it’s all right here in Moranbah — convenient and impressive.
