For a railway station that was built in 1883, Mitcham Railway Station has stood the test of time very well. This is my local station and I have used it innumerable times, and to be honest I don't accept the criticisms the station has been getting in the reviews. The station buildings were repainted in 2020, and the passages below the rail lines have all been decorated with colourful murals featuring scenes of nature and bird life. As you can see from one of my photos, and contrary to what 'Holly' wrote in her review, there is in fact accessible parking provided in one of the parking zones, although the second one does not provide these. The gardens around the station are well maintained mostly by local volunteers. The platforms are well lit at night, and the area around the station is generally regarded as safe and incident free.
Beautiful garden but the train station itself needs a renovation. The ground is uneven so difficult for those with walking issues or in wheelchairs. Also no disabled car spaces in either of the car parks which is unacceptable in this day and age. Hopefully the state government will provide some much needed funding to upgrade this station and it's carparks in the near future.nUpdate: It's great to see that some disabled parking spaces have now been created. Kudos to the council for following this up with the state government.
Good station but sometimes lots of bikes
Local train station with lots of parking areas. There are two platforms to get on the train. Each platform has a screen to display when the trains will arrive and which direction the train is going. Those screens are easily visible during the day.
Worst station ever, get this place to 1 star please
