Food was quite spicy but extremely delicious. It was full of flavor and the handmade noodles was so yammy. Such a little gem in Sumner…. Love it!!
I had my doubts about this place after going through some pics and comments, but the food we ordered turned out great! Tasty and authentic. But sure they can use some work with their service. The staff did seem a little impatient and bossy, which didn’t bother us too much, just something they can work on.
The atmosphere and service was very good. Most of the dishes were nice specially the spicy food that we liked them. There is only one disadvantage was that the dishes were little bit salty.
Great szechuan food, hits the spot for chinese food cravings. You can choose the spiciness level so its great for those who can’t take spice. Affordable with decent portions. Noodles cooked perfectly. Parking can be difficult to find as it gets busy during dinner time.
Just happened to wander past and glad we came in. Amazing food. Authentic and wide ranging. Amazing staff and food to die for. Put this on the must visit list. Also the cleanest toilets I have been in a restaurant for quite some time.
My family and I have frequented Miss Peppercorn and have never once been disappointed. Great food, great service and a great place in general. Would recommend everything on the menu, make sure to order the spring onion pancakes and cold eggplant salad.
So tasty! I came with my Malaysian friend and he said it's Chinese fine dining. Very satisfied!
I've been here a few times and have had a mixed experience. The good: First of all, I would recommend to go at least once to try a Szechuan peppercorn dish - it is a unique flavor and sensation. My top 2 picks from what I've tried so far would be the Dan-Dan Noodles or Home-made Szechuan pickles. both 4-stars! Biang Biang Noodles were quite similar to Dan-Dan, they're much thicker and have a unique texture, but because of this they pick up less sauce and carry less of the Szechuan flavor. I preferred Dan-Dan but Biang Biang were also nice. Most recently, I went for lunch on the weekend with a group of friends. It wasn't too busy, food came promptly, and the service was good. The not-so-good: Earlier this month I had a delicious Pork Belly dish at Shanghai Bistro, so when I saw the Fenzheng Pork Belly, my expectations were high! It was a disappointment when the dish turned out to be a homogeneous blend of gelatinous rice with very little texture or substance! - 2 stars. I'm not someone who minds waiting for food especially when with good company, but be aware that my first time here was for dinner. They were very busy, and it took around 45 minutes for the food to arrive. I also wasn't a fan of the Tofu. Just quite plain. - 2 stars. The dumplings were OK. My wife makes better ones at home! - 3 stars. Overall, worth a try for the Szechuan peppercorn experience, and I expect I'll be back for another bowl of dan-dan noodles when I am craving that flavor again!
Excellent Sichuan food in Christchurch. I had Biang Biang noodle with Spring Onion pancake. Good price and tasty as well. Went there around 1 pm and not so crowded. Good customer service and able to enjoy my meal there in a pleasant atmosphere. Will go there again for other meals.
Located in Sumner. Authentic Sichuan restaurants, interesting menus easily catered for Chinese and non-Chinese. Great atmosphere, interior decor, and helpful staff. Quite busy for weekend lunch time, billing recommended. We had a few different noodles, each was having its own style. Noodles are freshly made onsite and chewy. Will definitely come back again!
