We run an all-day/sessional programme offering children and their families a secure, loving, caring, safe, Christian learning environment.
Our child-initiated curriculum and semi-structured programme recognises the learning and developmental needs, strengths and emerging interests of the individual children. We believe children are unique, with God-given potential to grow as confident and competent learners, healthy in body, mind and spirit. All children are treated with respect and exposed to appropriate learning opportunities.
We believe children’s holistic development and learning is nurtured through play, interaction with and exploration of our environment, modelling, purposeful teaching and repetition, collaboration with parents, underpinned by Centre Vision, Values and Te Whaariki. Our Programme planning is guided by teachers’ observation of children’s play, as we believe this is the best way to cater for the children’s interests and to cover all developmental areas and learning styles. Our Rocket programme specifically emphasises transition to school. Our well-presented learning materials are inviting and challenging. We believe it is in the best interests of the Milford Baptist Kindergarten children to have teachers who are fully qualified, and supportive of our philosophy. Such teachers will be well informed with subject knowledge and teaching approaches, to facilitate groups and individual learning experiences. We believe parents and teachers should employ only positive behaviour management skills, in order to safeguard the children’s holistic well-being.
