Today we went to this restaurant for dinner after checked google reviews. To be honest it didn’t satisfy us. Their service is good. They checked in between Quesadillas are delicious We ordered kids tacos, chicken tacos & burritos. Taste did not satisfy us. Overall okay experience.
Mexican Republic - A restaurant that is tucked away from the bustling main streets. Absolutely loved the covered, yet see through, outdoor seating which overlooks the picturesque Lorne landscape. However, things didn’t go well for me. My friend and I stopped for dinner after a very long day. I drove almost 400km and was having severe headache. I am writing this review in the comfort of my bed so it won’t sound biased in any way. 1. We placed the order through the app and paid. Waited 43 mins, and had to ask for the food. And it took them another 3-4 mins to deliver the food to the table. How do I remember accurately even after a day? Well, like I said, I was so frustrated and wanted to pick on something and it made me check the time every now and then. Remember, we had another 1 hour 57 mins driver to reach home and we lost almost 1.5 hours in this restaurant. 2. Service was good. They check on you in between. 3. I find it a bit pricey. 4. The toilet sticks big time!!! To make it worse we sat next to the toilet door the door that opens to the back hallway/alleyway and next to it is the toilet. I had to literally cover my nose, it smelled like some sort of wet dog in there! I noticed a air freshener the second time I went in, i wish I saw it on the first place so I could have sprayed it. Anyway, not my job!! I would have happily given 5 star but yea, experience is everything for me. Especially when I pay more than GnG for a Burrito or Quesadilla. Taste? It was delicious. The Burrito is a must try.
Great vibe, great food, great venue and service was fast and friendly. I’d call the food a Mexican fusion…maybe not everyone’s authentic Mexican but it certainly ticked all boxes for us. Yummy
Don't let the fact that Mexican Republic can only offer take away currently put you off. The food is magnificent, there are benches & tables nearby on the foreshore, and the hosts are friendly and hardworking. Great, genuine Mexican street food type menu. We had Quesadillas & Burritos and they were incredible.Food: 5/5
Good Mexican restaurant in Lorne. Really enjoyed my fish burrito. The corn chips are really good but the salsa was a little mild. Luckily there's 3 different hot sauces on the table so we were able to spice it up!Food: 4/5
Broken table, ordered a few beers and they never came had to get up go inside and reorder them. We came as a group of 12. Food was average, sangria was made with cheap wine. Owner came out at one point and just stared at me, most likely because I kept using the hot sauce to flavor the bland food. If you think this is good Mexican you haven't eaten Mexican before.
Waited 1 hour for 3 average $22 chicken burritos with no chicken in it. Go elsewhere. But, if you like quinoa and beans in your bland burrito this is the place for you!
The burrito servings were a good size and filling. You can have them with the tortilla or as a naked bowl. They were delicious and so fresh. It was very busy but the staff were very quick, helpful and friendly.
Small and stylish Mexican restaurant with amazingly good food. Most of the menu either is or can be made gluten free. The elotes were chargrilled and delicious—my favourite. All of the tacos were divine but I think the pork was my favourite. Definitely worth a visit!
$20 here gets you 45 minutes of waiting for a burrito with insides cold enough to have been in the fridge. Taste was alright but definitely not worth the wait or the price.
