My partner, daughter and I were visiting from Melbourne during the school holidays last week. We had a fantastic meal here, we got the trio of dips, the chicken quesadilla, beef chimichanga and bean Nachos. It’s the second time we have been in Ballina this year, also had a great meal back in January. My 13 daughter told me they were the best nachos ever and she is quite the nacho aficionado. Not sure what the nasty review below was about, everything we had was delicious. Highly recommend
Worst Mexican food ever!! Bland boring not authentic or even close to any Mexican food I’ve had anywhere else - my partner took me here for dinner honestly my five year old can cook better. Not sure why they still in business and every time I walk past and see a customer in there I feel sorry for them - it’s an embarrassment to Ballina
My boyfriend and I have been coming here for over a year, Shane the owner is such an amazing guy and always treats us so great when we go here. We’ve made this place our regular Friday night takeaway and look forward to their delicious food every week. Hands down my favourite restaurant of all time, amazing food and amazing service 100% of the time. Could not recommend them more.
Mexican del rio is the best mexican I’ve ever had. I love coming here knowing that I will get an authentic and delicious meal with lovely service. Definitely recommend!

Made a booking and went to the restaurant on time. When we got there, there was a bit of a queue and everyone else was quickly seated whereas we were completely ignored about 3 times. the staff repeatedly saw us standing there waiting for our table and continued to ignore us. Stood there for 15 minutes with no service and decided to leave. Restaurant itself is very dark and dingy. Would not recommend. We just walked to the next Mexican which was way better with outside seating and great service
