Tucked away on this part of the Mornington Peninsula.. this is a really nice start to the Merricks to Red Hill Walk indeed!!! The facades is still the old original close to 100 year old shade, the whole location has been seriously transformed into a lovely stop for a few hours!! We just missed the flowers of this beautiful nearly centurion tree located in the middle!! There is ample parking! The gift shop on the left followed by outdoor cafe before going up the stairs to the main dining and cafe. Well designed indeed! Staff are helpful too!
Was recommended by a staff in one of the wineries that we visited. I like how the owner preserved the “general store” exterior. When guests/customers come in, they’re greeted with racks of local wine and products. Walk further in and a modern restaurant with plenty of natural light. Presentation of simple dishes asparagus, salmon, chicken, cake with ice cream is Instagrammable and very creative. Flavour-wise: . Lovely staff too!
Yet another Mornington Peninsula gem! Friendly and efficient service excellent choice of wines and exquisite food with a focus on local produce. Everyone involved deserves in this great place the highest praise. Thank to all involved in making our birthdays' lunch quite special.
Stunning dining area. Everything was cooked beautifully and presented well. The waiters were prompt and friendly. The Burrata starter we ordered was absolutely stunning, the best Barrata I have had. Everyone ordered there own mains and shared the vegetable sides, which was a fantastic conversation starter. With everyone having there own mains we ordered 2 vegetable sides for 4 people and it was the perfect amount.
The wine tasting at Merricks is free, we had the fish the specials recommended by the waitress and the salad to go with the white wine. The fish was superb, service was great and the staff are really friendly and knowledgeable. This winery/restaurant tucked away in Mornington Peninsula is a true gem of a place, it is simply one place you cannot miss if you're on a trip to the Peninsula!
Beautifully presented farm to table food in a warm rustic-style atmosphere. Highly recommend the heirloom tomatoes and charred zucchini - produce was fresh and quality exceptional
Beautiful spot to stop and have a drink and a bite to eat. Also a good spot to take a walk rail trail that will take a few hours if you do a round trip. I didn't go into the wine store or shop but from the rest of the place and the busyness it probably is quite good.
Merricks had a nice, relaxing vibe and is situated in a beautiful old building off the highway. The food and drinks we had here were all excellent and the service impeccable also. There’s a nice courtyard area behind the building also.
Merrick General Store does not disappoint - it has been made years since I've been here and as usual it was swamped. Nevertheless I managed to get a seat on the deck overlooking the cherry and lemon trees. I settled for beef cheek which fell apart at the touch of fork. Roasted pink peppers added heat to the dish and complimented the fried rainbow chard. I worked around the jus which was too sweet for me, otherwise a satisfying meal. Sad I couldn't have wine as I had a long drive ahead.
Went here for lunch - food was so good! Lots of gluten free options; lots of wine to taste they do tastings! and lots of local produce to buy. Highly recommend and make sure you book ahead! Only remembered to take this photo of chocolate Grenache dessert - YUM
