Story

Mercy College was founded in 1987 and has a long and proud history dating back to 1930. It is a Catholic co-educational day College for Years 7 to 10 and is part of Catholic Education in the Diocese of Rockhampton under the auspices of the Catholic Education Office.

Mercy College serves the communities of Mackay and surrounding areas including Walkerston and Sarina. Places at the school are keenly sought after by families seeking a quality, holistic education with an enhanced Christian focus.

With an enrollment of approximately 950 students, Mercy College provides students with a broad range of both curricula and co-curricula opportunities in a caring, supportive environment conducive to the unique needs of young adolescents.

Mission

The purpose of the College is to educate, by developing the whole person academically, spiritually, socially, culturally, physically and emotionally. This development is based on respect for self and others, with an emphasis on personal responsibility for actions. The qualities of love, mercy and forgiveness should characterise all relationships.

My dear friend got her helix pierced which she had wanted to get for anges and this stupid school threatened to suspend her it’s just one piercing jeez. She then had to go get it taken out. I have been to this school myself and I must say it is horrible please save your kids DO NOT SEND THEM TO THIS SCHOOL

There is one teacher who said really nasty things to me and failed me because she didn’t like me. She is always trying to get me into trouble and expelled. This is unacceptable behaviour because it shows a bad example and gives off a bad reputation. If I could I would rate 0 stars.
