I had a nice stay overall. The property was spotlessly clean, which really stood out and made for a comfortable experience.nWhile the decor has a more traditional style, the cleanliness and upkeep were excellent. The WiFi signal could be stronger, especially for those needing to work remotely. One helpful addition for future guests would be USB charging ports or charging stations by the bed - a small touch that would make things even more convenient.nThe real highlight was the staff - everyone was absolutely lovely and their warm, friendly service made the stay truly enjoyable. Their hospitality really elevated the experience.nWould recommend for a comfortable, well-maintained stay with great service!
After reading some of the other reviews, I probably wouldn’t have booked this place if I’d seen them earlier.nnThe staff from check-in to check-out were all very nice and helpful. Thanks for acknowledging I am the Accor member and have the little snack and a late check out.nnAs a solo traveller, my main concern was safety — the elevators don’t require a key card, which made me feel a bit too easy since it seems anyone could access the floors. The area itself doesn’t feel unsafe, but it still made me slightly concerned.nnThe room was clean and had a mini bar and kettle, which was great for making coffee in the morning. However, the coffee sachets were Nescafé instead of Moccona. The shower drain had a bad smell when I turned on the water, and it lingered in the bathroom.nnLuckily, I only stayed one night, so it didn’t bother me too much overall. I appreciated the convenient location near Westfield Shopping Centre — easy to get everything I needed. I checked the room service menu, but nothing really caught my eye and the prices seemed a bit high.nnOverall, I was happy enough with my stay. Would I stay again? I am not so sure about that.
I was disappointed with my stay at Mercure Garden City. While this property may have been quite nice several years ago, it now feels tired and poorly maintained.nThe room had a lingering smell that was very reminiscent of old cigarette smoke, as if it had once been a smoking room and the odour was never fully removed. In the bathroom, there was visible mould in the caulking, which is not something you expect at this price point. The garbage bin was rusted, and the kitchen tap was broken, making it awkward to use.nCleanliness was another issue. The room door, along with many other doors throughout the hotel, appeared unclean, with greasy handprints on the handles and surfaces. These are small details, but they add up and affect the overall impression.nNothing here was catastrophic, but the accumulation of maintenance and cleanliness issues made the stay feel below standard for a Mercure hotel. With proper upkeep and attention to detail, this could be a much better experience, but at present it feels like the property hasn’t kept up with its past standard.
I recently stayed at the Mercure Upper Mt Gravatt and had a mixed experience.nnOn the positive side, the reception staff were very accommodating. They assisted us with adding breakfast after check-in and even offered to move our room closer to the lift to better support my elderly mother. The free parking was a bonus, and the hotel’s location is excellent.nnHowever, there were several areas that need improvement. Our room 305 had a broken door, and each time we opened it, it made a loud noise that could easily disturb other guests. Housekeeping standards were below expectations — dirty cups were left in the room, and the bed sheets were not changed over our three-night stay.nnBreakfast was another disappointment. At $26 per person, it felt overpriced for the limited variety. The buffet offered the same items every day, and the à la carte options were very restricted.nnOverall, while the staff and location were commendable, the condition of the room, housekeeping, and breakfast experience left much to be desired.
Stayed for 4 days and was thoroughly unimpressed. The breakfast buffet was consistently empty, and we had to ask multiple times to refill basic items. The room floor was dirty even after housekeeping cleaned it, and we were missing a shower cap. Given the issues, the stay felt overpriced. Hopefully, they'll address these problems to improve their service.
