Merchant Tea & Coffee

The place is lovely but I feel that it is not as extraordinary as people make it out to be it's over hyped. While the tarts are impressive, the sandwiches were average taste like your average supermarkt / coffee shop sandwhich the cream was cold as well. So minus one star. Another reason for deducting a star is that I feel that you don't get enough value. A product can be more expensive but still be good value for money. Our sandwiches were tiny and as mentioned before, nothing special. When we asked if we could get more, we were told that a plate is £8.00. Maybe my expectations are too high but if you charge £35 per person you should give the customer a second serving if they ask. In my opinion, you are saving money at the wrong end. Sandwiches are cheap, you give the customer another portion you could even exclude the ones with the more expensive ingredients the customer is happy feels welcomed, orders some drinks, maybe comes back for dinner, spa treatment,etc. I did not feel appreciated as a customer and while the venue is impressive, I don't think i will come back nor will I recommend it.

Beautiful place for a special afternoon tea. For us it was way too much food-wise, but the flavors were absolutely fantastic! Service very friendly and the environment exactly as you would expect. Quite pricey but worth it.
