We absolutely love this place, beautiful walking tracks, under cover barbecue areas with tables and chairs. Native birds and swans. There were people fishing along the lake, but I'm not sure if they caught anything. A creative natural play ground, with equipment for yonger kids. Toilets and drink taps on site. Lots of park benches to sit and take in nature. Very family friendly. Dogs allowed on a lead. Only downside is the noise from the western freeway, which the gardens back onto. Very small car park. Other than that we really love coming here.
This garden was a totally unexpected great place for a pit stop on a recent road trip. Very interesting plants, beautifully laid out around a meandering creek, great benches to sit and have our tea and a loo: perfection!
Beautiful place to go unwind, relax and get away from thing to be amongst nature but still be close to home. All the plants are really taken off now its becoming a really beautiful place. Sunset and sunrise are good times to go... picnic area with free BBQ tables with shelter and power.
They have replicated soil conditions from different regions in Australia and around the world, and have managed to grow plants from those regions. This is not easy, but they manage to do it, which goes to show how knowledgeable and dedicated they are. Here, banksias and eucalypts are a highlight. If you take your time, you can appreciate just how many varieties of eucalypts there are - scrunch up their leaves and reward your olfactory senses on an afternoon walk; and count how many species of birds you can spot.
Look, it’s not the fanciest spot in Melbourne, but for a local patch of dirt in Melton, it’s a fair dinkum effort. They’ve done a decent job with the native plants, and it’s actually quiet enough to hear yourself think, which is a miracle in itself these days.nIt’s a decent enough spot for a casual wander if you’re trying to look like you’re doing something productive on a Saturday morning. Don’t go expecting five-star landscaping or a luxury café it’s a bit rugged, but it gets the job done. Good for a quick walk to escape the traffic and pretend you’re at one with nature for a bit. Not going to change your life, but it beats staring at a brick wall
