Really great waterfall with lots of character. Can scramble down from the bridge and walk around the rocks. Across the road is a track that takes you to the bottom with a view under the bridge back up to the cascades
Amazing entrance with large rock formations and a series of waterfalls dependent on rainfall etc. lots of great walks and facilities all around the park. Very well maintained. Could easily spend a day exploring all the tracks etc.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
A surprisingly spectacular sight. There is also of water moving through a very small space. The new walking bridge lets you admire the sight without having to watch out for cars. The bridge traverses over the gap which is again surprisingly deep. The bridge also has a bit of a spring in it which may spook some people out. There is limited carparking rght next to the falls however there is ample parking just up the hill.
Beautiful spot, great for exploring in summer - a sight to behold in wet season. They open the dam every second Sunday, which is awesome. Lots of lovely walking trails and picnic spots here, beautiful.
Cross a bridge near the old pump station and the falls are very picturesque. Carry on up the road a short while and turn into McLaren Falls Park. Walking tracks through many different types of bush/trees/open. It's gorgeous. Can camp there too
McLaren Falls is one of the best spots in Tauranga. I love to hop over the rocks all the way up the river and find a nice spot for a swim with my dog. In summer it is usually quite busy here, with several safe spots for kids to swim. It's important to be smart here though as there are many potential hazards. Dogs are welcome in and around the main river by the bridge, but you cannot take them up into the park/reserve.
Nice place for a quick freshwater dip..
A really good waterfall. Huge and easy to find your spot even if it is busy. I loved to jumping around on the rocks. So many time I have been here. One of the must to see things on the way to Tauranga from Auckland.
Absolutely beautiful place to camp, walk to the waterfall or to head up to the look out, take the kids to feed the ducks, make use of the picnic benches and barbecues, visit the animal park, take a night time glowworm walk, drop in for a coffee and breakfast, take a kayak down the lake, go rock hopping in summertime and swim in the fresh water rock pools, loads to do.
This place is chilled. Park yourself on one if the many rocks and sunbathe or get in one of the many rock pools and relax. Make sure you put on a decent pair of runners and rock jump and head up stream away from all the other locals and tourists and find your own private rock pool. If you're into more thrills, people were jumping off into the deep part. Like any of these rock pools, be super careful you're not going to dive onto rocks at the bottom. Cool for children as long as you keep an eye on them and they're not near the edge of some of these rock pools. Fine for dog walkers also. Once you've finished rock jumping, head on up the road to Marshalls Animal Park for a day out for the family. Only a short drive from inner city Tauranga... this definitely should go on your adventure list to get the kids off the Ipads
