The 3.3 star rating does not do them justice. If you are judging by Google star rating reviews, consider that a business with only 5 star reviews is possibly manipulating this in some way. Pete and Laura are excellent lawyers. If you are looking for a peaceful and swift resolution to any estate matters, I recommend seeing them. In my case I am dealing with solicitors and executors that have failed to finalise my father's estate, which is still ongoing after 12 years. Estates generally take 12 months to finalise - minimum 6 months all going well. Pete came up with a precise and intelligent way forward that does not involve unnecessary litigation, saving the stress and financial burden that follows such actions. Laura is exceptionally kind, and responsive. Thank you Pete and Laura, your help has made a positive difference, not just for myself but for everyone else involved. This is the way.
I engaged Ms KKaren Hannan from MSL lawyers to represent me in my divorce settlement. This was after I obtained positive reviews from two separate sources. In early legal “negotiations “ you can be tempted to get bogged down in the he said/she said mentality of correspondence. But Karen was excellent at explaining what to ignore which can be difficult and to prioritise those issues that would actually influence the financial settlement. Karen obtained my total trust.

Elda Bradford was assigned to assist my daughter with her financial separation from her husband. Elda was regularly unavailable as she did not work every day, and always seemed extremely busy. We were bounced around to three other solicitors at MSL because Elda was unavailable, including just prior to the critical court mediation session. We received conflicting advice from the various MSL solicitors. Elda & Co were easily outgunned by my daughter's husband's lawyer. An expensive lesson - don't use Elda, MSL, or any suburban lawyer when dealing with an important matter such as a separation.
Will never use again. They never return phone calls. After 12 months my mums will has still not been finalised. Beware - do not use in your time of grief as they just cause more heartache.
My experience with McDonald Slater and Lay has been a very good one. I have been looked after by Elda Bradford so well. She is excellent in her field and very well respected. I always feel comfortable and safe when I have had her do legal work for me. She is a straight shooter and honest. When it comes to getting things done the office is on the ball, efficient and effective. I have always had a good experience from the reception and other staff as well. I highly recommend them as the lawyers to go to.
Multiple courteous emails sent over more than 2 months to the office for an update on the status of a deceased relatives estate. ZERO replies to the emails, no return calls. Matter had been in progress 9 months with a single update on status to beneficiaries in the duration.
We have used Ian and the team on several occasions for both personal and business matters. Everytime we were very pleased with the advice given and the outcome achieved Couldn’t recommend more highly
