UPDATE MAY 2018: I believe Maxy's has sadly shut down after decades of amazing food and Melbourne's best Parma's. Still some of the best Parma in town that doesn't break any of the golden rules. Chips next to not under and good salad, great ham, cheese and sauce perfectly grilled on top. Mega BBQ platters suit 4-5 easily and never ceases to amaze me. Service quite great - seems to be under new ownership so let's see how this pans out.
Food: The food here isn't high class, but it's well cooked and the portions are huge. It's simple food and fairly enjoyable. Atmosphere/service: Service is efficient and staff are chatty and friendly. When busy it has a nice atmosphere and is very popular with older people. It's quite a large venue so it can feel a little deserted if not many people are in. Would I recommend it: It's great if you want a large, simple meal and offers very good value.
I had the worst experience in this restaurant. The indian manager/owner was very rude to one of his customers who was trying to shake his hand before leaving. I went on a trial as waitress where at the end of the day I got to witness the owner shouting at his son at the backyard regarding the changes in menu and everything was heavily priced. One of their regular customers was pretty disappointed when she found out her dish being charged extra $10 overnight. The manager has no idea about managing the restaurant and motivating the staffs. He is very stubborn and gives no values to customers. Rating 1/10.
We went to Maxi's for the first time some 20 years ago, when it was owned by the original owner & the guy that had set up Limores. Decor had not changed, menu had not changed & the food was still pretty good, only difference is that the portion size had been reduced by at least 1/3. Still worth going if you like New York style cuisine.
Lovely fresh flavours. Nothing pretentious. The dining group was 17 in number and all enjoyed their meals. The waiting staff were personable and efficient. Thank you Maxy's.
I went to this place not to long ago with a somewhat large group, The place was completely empty apart from our group. Clearly people realized how the quality of the place had gone down not only is the service horrible from the new indian owners, But the food made me sick the next day. The old owners where good and the food was great, i can not Reccomend it till these current owners leave.
Been going here for years. The new ownership has destroyed this place. Quality is horrendous. Almost like straight out of a supermarket freezer and portion sizes are half what they used to be now. I don't think the chicken schnitzels are proper chicken now either. Can't justify the big price increase for this junk. Bye bye Maxys!
Great place to have a dinner alone or with a family. It has nice roomy seating with pleasant atmosfere. Menu has alot o selections, definetly try the meat platter.
Rude staff. Slow service. Charged for drinks we never had. Had to be for water. Just all round terrible and will never return.
Great food, huge portions need to share, love the American smoked ribs with a cold beer.
