Awesome ice cream stop general store, haven’t tried the fish & chips. Awesome friendly young lady staffer doing the ice creams was all good. Cool tables outside but pretty close to the road, lots of goons showing off to the cows & sheep cause there ain’t much else up here to try to look cool in front of! Mind the tamariki, Awesome little store 3rd time here this year, happy. Easy parking, accessible, main road can’t miss it.
The best Fish burger I have ever had. This little general store and takeaway shows that the big burger chains products leave a lot to be desired. The Matapouri Bay Store burger was simply the best!
Was so looking forward to fresh fish and chips. There wasn’t much choice of fish on offer, as they were flat out Christmas period. The staff were pleasant, but the fish, oysters, and scallops were heavily battered and dripping in oil. So much so that my sister’s top is probably stained for good the oil oozed out of the parcel of food before we could walk the 200 ? metres back to the beach. Haven’t had kiwi fish and chips for a long, long time, and now feel a bit ill from the grease. Disappointed.
On Monday 2nd October at 4h55pm,me and the family were served by shop assistant moari girl that was very angry and rude. The shop was not busy at all I could not understand her attitude towards us.I asked her about the Kapiti competition she briefly answered never gave us the receipt back so we could enter. I noticed there was not enough serviettes asked for it and she banged it on the counter. On top of that I realised that she was using her bare hand on cones oh my word where is the hygiene . I think she need to get a bit of training how to deal with customers before the big days. I was shocked that she dont have any etiquette, but she have to carry face of your shop.
Had the fish, squid rings, chips, mussel fritter. Crinkly cut pre frozen chips, squid rings without any squid inside, mussel fritter tasting like cardboard. Fish was ok
We came just before Christmas , it was busy but very friendly staff. The fish and chips were excellent, choose the snapper and you can’t go wrong. A global standard of fish and chips here at this cute little store! We took ours to the nearby beach and had a wonderful afternoon. Thanks everyone at Matapouri Bag store for making our holiday better!!
