Welcome to Matahui School; an outstanding educational opportunity for your child.
We are a small independent (private) primary school situated within a picturesque rural setting in Katikati in the Bay of Plenty,NZ. Matahui School provides an outstanding educational opportunity for children from New Entrants (Year 0) to Year 8. A bus service is available from Waihi and from Tauranga.

We are beyond thrilled with our whanau's experience with Matahui. The school is welcoming, warm, generous and joyful. The staff and children are like an extended whanau and they welcome all kinds of people from all walks of like. So many members of our family have attended Matahui and it's an honour to be able to join in by sending our 6 year old.The school is so unique in its approach to learning and it's connection to one another. The forest school is incredible and our son is learning so many incredible new things about nature and the world around him. Matahui is extremely responsive to parent feedback and does it's best to incorporate whanau values, ideas and skill sets. We are so pleased and proud that we can be a part of the Matahui Whanau.
As a ex student at Matahui School this is hands down the best school out there. Matahui School prepares your child for college, lets them be themselves at all times and gives opportunities like no other school!! By far the best years of my life!! Thank you to all the teachers who encouraged me and helped me at all times and to the students who will forever be my friends. Words cannot describe how thankful and how much I appreciate Matahui School. I highly recommend this school!!
Hands down best school experience for my kids. We had a 16 year relationship with Matahui with both of our girls starting and finishing their primary education there. There is something special, something intangible, known as the Matahui Magic and you feel it as soon as you set foot on the property. Somehow that magic becomes instilled in the kids and the families and carries on once they graduate and move on. It is evident in the accomplishments of these kids years after they leave. It is simply the best place to educate small humans for their first 8 years of schooling.
I loved every moment. The best preparation for your kid for college, their tershary education and the rest of their lives. Highly recommended!
Brilliant school. My kids grow a little every day they attend this school.
