Connor Hamilton Construction Ltd CHCL recommended and sub-contracted Straight Paint Ltd a Master Painter Assoc member to paint our house and garage post refurbishment. We paid $27,000+ for all interior & exterior painting Vic Hopkirk of Straight Paint approved and signed off all painting in May 2021 By Feb 2022 paint was flaking off the garage walls and windows and house windows In July 2022 the Master Painters Association MPA did an assessment and found “…the work … by Straight Paint … does not meet an acceptable trade standard, and fails to meet the standard described in AS/NZ2311/2017…” In Aug 2022 Straight Paint rejected outright, adjudication with the Building Disputes Tribunal to resolve issues We found later SPL had the equivalent of “Poor Workmanship” insurance with QBE An independent quote to repair all painting damage on 18 Sept 2022 was $10,000+, and by 31 Jan 2023 was quoted at $15,000+ We made good contact with MPA but they did nothing to assist either SPL or ourselves resolve this and have shown more interest to get this case closed – the opportunity is with them to change this We will fund repairs commencing 1 May 2023. Beware
