Chan Cheuk Fai, the head instructor at Jin Wu Koon, nearly killed me back in 2005. He got me to help move a mirror at the old gym in Chinatown, when all of a sudden he pushed the back of it too hard, shattering it whilst a piece of glass ripped my left ear and got lodged in my neck, leaving me scarred and permanently disfigured. I ended up having a 4.5 hour operation in the emergency department during which my mother waited outside in tears whilst Cheuk Fai flew to New Zealand to corner a K1 fighter. He did not even have the respect or dignity to ensure I was okay immediately after the surgery. An ethical person with a conscience would not have behaved in such a way. He has not called me to apologise I needed to call him, nor was I reimbursed in anyway for his negligence. He has has basically avoides me with contempt, and refuses to acknowledge what he did. I am lucky to be alive. I now no longer have feeling on my left ear, and half of the left side of my neck. My range of motion on neck has also significantly diminished. I have also had to have two post-operations done on my neck, due to complications from the accident, and needed to attend extensive appointments with a therapist for PTSD. He might be a good martial artist, but his moral compass is non-existent. He has been caught with contraband at the airport, and also ignored warnings from the City of Sydney Council about asbestos in the alleyway behind the old burnt gym, which he allowed students and people to move without safety precautions. So people who are contemplating about training there need to ask themselves if they want to be learning from someone with such a questionable background. If you choose to train with him, just be cognizant that Cheuk Fai's gym is not insured and if anything happens to you, he will bully and coerce his way out of responsibility. Cheuk Fai, you are a coward who nearly ruined my life, who runs and avoids responsibility and thinks just because people call him "sifu", you are immuned from being culpable for your actions. You made no effort to contact me, apologise to me or my family, or reimburse me for the extensive medical/counseling sessions I have incurred due to your negligence. I hope you sleep well at night!
