Maru Koala & Animal Park

About

A tourist attraction, including an Animal Park, Pirate Pete's Mini-golf and the Homestead Bistro with indoor Dinosaur Playroom.

Story

Founded, owned and operated by the Heffer family, at Maru we personally ensure you get the most out of your visit. Pat a koala and hand feed and pat the kangaroos and wallabies, rare albinos and meet the wombats, dingoes and other delightful creatures at the Animal Park. Enjoy hourly koala tours where the Keeper will introduce you to our koala family inside their enclosure. Take advantage of the opportunity to get a photograph up close with one of our Koalas! Learn about our Wildlife Shelter and enjoy frequent talks given by our animal keepers that help you learn about the animals as you interact with them. There are plenty of photo opportunities to ensure that you have souvenirs to share your experience with family and friends. Enjoy the Wildlife show and Sheep Shearing show in our covered auditorium.

There’s more to Maru than animals! Set sail for 18 holes of adventure at Pirate Pete’s Mini-golf, officially opened in June 2008. Putt your way around the thirty meter Pirate Ship, encounter life size Pirate figurines and enter the gold mine under the five meter thunderous waterfall.

Only fifteen minutes from Phillip Island, Maru is a great day out, where you can also enjoy a meal or a snack in our licensed Homestead Bistro whilst the kids enjoy the large indoor playroom.

Love the place. It was excellent for children and the staff seemed like kind people who really love animal. When I went there, the weather was really hot but I still enjoyed looking at the wild animals, especially the koala. I just hope that they will be put in an air-conditioned area when the weather is too hot. Animal Welfare should precede guest's experience. The kangaroo also seemed really relaxed at the area. There are also other interesting sections like the enclosure where the gliders and the possums are. It gave me a chance to witness animals in the dark.
Two of us came to Maru Koala and Animal Park on a Saturday. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and especially loved the pirate-themed mini golf. It was so much fun, and I would recommend it for all ages including kids, teens, adults, couples, friends and families. We loved getting up close and personal to the wildlife at the animal park, including the wallabies, kangaroos, koalas, dingo's, emus, Tasmanian devils, peacocks, snakes, crocodiles, frogs and more. Thank you so much to Maru Koala and Animal Park.
One of the best animal park I’ve been to. Kids will absolutely love it. It’s definitely worth it to get the koala encounter. For only 30 dollars, you get to pet the koala and take photos with it they even print it out for you. Entrance ticket also allows you to play mini golf which was crazy fun! Will be back :Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Perfect family day if you love Aussie Animals. Staff are very polite and friendly with reasonable price tastyfood and drinks. Also I can't recommend the Dingo Experience enough. The gentleman was very knowledgeable and being so close to the two Dingoes with just our family of four was amazing.
Gorgeous small park, well maintained with a variety of native animals. Plenty of keeper/animal talks scheduled throughout the day, with knowledgeable and friendly staff who are clearly passionate about the work they do. Totally worth the visit! Cafe on-site with seated or takeaway menus. Good pram/wheelchair access.
We were quite disappointed when we visited this place, as we missed the koala show, but somehow the golf adventure did give us a fun family time. We visited late around 2.30pm. As we enter, we walk to the right cluelessly instead of the left. Missing the Koala show. After that, there isn't any shows available. So sad. : For info, there are different show times at different time slot. Do check the show time slot when you visit. Place is clean and quite a number of animals to view. Kangaroos could be full by the time we visited. They don't really want to let us feed them anymore. So we just leave it on the tray. Thanks for taking care of the animals! Never been to a golf adventure before. When we visited, there are a group of teens playing and cheering. Not knowing about the game, but after playing for a while, it's a chasing game. Start from hole 1 and slowly, as we progress, the difficulty gets slightly harder. We try competing with each other for the least shots. Hole in one is not a given, but it's also not impossible here. Do complete all the 18 holes and you will be a GOLF master. LOL.
By far the best part of our holiday. We spent most of the day here looking at animals, feeding kangaroos and playing mini golf. I'm not sure who enjoyed it more, us or the kids. It was just a cruisy and relaxing fun day. We loved the face painting as well, she was very talented.
The best interactive animal park we’ve been to, and we have been to a lot. For the price you pay there’s so much included it’s definitely worth it. A pass for the entire day, you can go in and hand feed the kangaroos who are very friendly, a bunch of short and informative talks- which we all learnt something from. Appreciate how it was catered to kids to keep their attention and teach them. The staff were all very friendly, the gift shop was well priced. Then the mini golf inc in price was so fun for the kids. Top it off the kids also loved the park. Definitely wear comfortable clothes and shoes that are easily cleaned like crocs, sneakers will get dirty. Extra price for encounters w animals but again, reasonably priced. Recommend for all ages
Wonderful experience! The staff are super nice and we have a good time interacting with the animals. Our favourite activity is wildlife attraction when the keepers bring the animals and share the amazing things about them. There are prayers room available, the ice cream is good, and we can play mini golf before going back home.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Such a wonderful family friendly animal park. We attended our friends daughters birthday party here and I must say it was the most fun and relaxing birthday celebration ever! The staff is just absolutely the best, they are incredibly sweet and efficient. Love love love this place, looks brand new and super clean but it has been open for almost a decade I believe, definitely recommend for a weekend day trip or an event. Food at the cafe was great, the decorations were so cute and ample parking space. And to top that they have a fun mini golf course.
