Marmaris II — I had heard heaps about this kebab, so I decided to make the trek out to try the German kebab. Overall, it was a bit overhyped from what I had seen people describe, but it did the trick for a casual lunch. I probably would not trek out again just for it.nnThe concept of the German kebab with the red cabbage and salads was very refreshing, with the bread loaded in every bite. However, flavour-wise and sauce-wise, I felt it missed a profile to really elevate the sandwich from just tasting good. Maybe the concept is to keep it fresh and not too heavy.nnThe meats were shaved off the spit as normal, with no real charcoal flavour, similar to an average kebab store. I can see why it would be a good local spot, as I do not see many Turkish options around the Caulfield area, so it would suit locals well.nnNot here to detract, but it is a kebab that made me question whether the trip was worth it. Service was, as Melbourne hospitality usually is, nice and friendly. My mate agreed it was an okay lunch, but nothing that wowed us enough to come back for. More of a refreshing lunch than a flavour packed masterpiece.
I can see why their German kebab is rated as one of the best in Melbourne. It didn’t disappoint. Soft Turkish bread roll filled to the brim with delicious pickled salad, a herbed mayo sauce. All complimenting the perfectly cooked and seasoned lamb. Hands down the best kebab I’ve had in Melbourne! Assembled with love, a love for their customers. The owners are incredible human beings, warm and welcoming. Good people are a rare breed these days. Ones that provide this level of customer satisfaction are even rarer! They deserve good things. Well worth the trip. God bless
It was my first time visiting Marmaris II today, and I chose to order their popular German kebab. Wait time was decent, and in terms of flavour, it was exquisite! I've been waiting months to visit their store after seeing Eat With Kevin's review on them, and after having the kebab which was packed full of ingredients, I can assuredly say that all the flavours and mouthfeel worked harmoniously together. They make the orders fresh, but it doesn't take too long, and if you're around the area, I highly suggest you try their German Doner Kehab at least once. As recommended by the cashier, I selected the lamb meat which was surprisingly not gamey and did not have that strong taste that lamb usually has, so feel free to try their lamb if you're interested even if you typically find it hard to eat. Amazing value for $18 there's card surcharge btw.nnThe owner and cashier was extremely friendly and they seemed to chat with all their customers. Seating wise, you can choose to sit outdoors or in one of their two small tables inside.
**Absolutely Worth the Drive – Best Kebab I’ve Ever Had!**nnI drove over an hour just to try German Doner Kebab, and let me tell you—it was *100% worth it*. This isn't just a good kebab… this is hands down the **best kebab I’ve ever had in my life**. The meat was perfectly seasoned, the bread was fresh and crisp, and the sauces brought everything together in the most incredible way. Every bite was next-level.nnYou can truly taste the quality and care put into every ingredient. It’s not your average kebab—it’s a game-changer. I’d recommend this place to absolutely anyone. Whether you're a die-hard kebab fan or just curious, **this is the gold standard**. Easily a 10/10 experience.
Marmaris was highly recommended to me and it did not disappoint! nnWe got a serve of fresh Turkish bread with two dips; homemade hummus and smoked eggplant and this entree alone was SO IMMACULATE that I'd come back purely for just those!nAmazing fluffy light soft Turkish bread and paired with literally THE BEST hummus and eggplant dip I've ever had in my life = magical!nThe peynirli pide bread was great too! Super fresh, warm and buttery with smooth salty delicious feta and nice touch of spinach.nThe Mixed Doner Kebab was packed with tasty delicious lamb and chicken with nice garlic sauce we added hummus and homemade chillies which was amazing and chips! All wrapped in lovely pide bread! nnAmazing food, great people---super welcoming and friendly---definitely will return again and would recommend!!
