It's kinda sad economically and sociologically how many FOR LEASE signs are up in here these days November 2023. Downstairs and upstairs too. I've been coming here since my first memories from 1973/1974, when there used to be a food court where Harris Scarf is now. Well, at least, that's what 53 year old me recalls from 3 year old me. And Market Square has been here since Geelong was colonised back in the 1830s. And the empty stores, the closed stores have been a feature of Market Square since before Covid. Is it online shopping holding the blame? Home delivery? Yeh it's a sad mystery.
Honestly I only ever go into the market square now for jb hifi and ghanda. There really aren't many shops left in there. Most shops have closed up, there really isn't even a decent food court there now.
Needing more shop's Market Square is a landmark for Geelong & has been there forever. It's great to be able to walk around te city & look in all the different shop's. But lately alot of shop's are dissapearing which to me is tragic
Great place for shopping
The vending machiene took my $4 and wouldn't give me my drink! Never coming again! This has put me into stress as I can no longer drink and be hydrated for the rest of the day as I have no more coins.
The selection of shops is relatively on the small side but it's not that difficult to walk through so browsing the shops is pleasant.
Unfortunately alot of the shops are closed/out of business. It used to be such a bustling part of Geelong
A very sad reminder of how much better this area was before this horribly ugly carpark of a building destroyed central Geelong. Yes, I know it was 1983 and many of us probably thought that we needed something new but this should be a reminder that we need to think very carefully before destroying several iconic streets and buildings in the future.
Good place for shopping. But not too busy.
Market Square shopping centre is very good, full restaurant and other shipping malls. The only challenge is the parking. Go early to get the parking, if you go after 10 then parking is a big problem on weekends and on public holiday.
