Festive Fun and Fantastic Food at Market CitynnVisited Market City in Haymarket on Lunar New Year Day 2026 and had a wonderful time soaking up the festive atmosphere. The moment I walked into the large foyer, I was greeted by a spectacular giant golden horse display — it was absolutely stunning and really captured the spirit of the Year of the Horse. The intricate design and golden glow made it a perfect photo spot, and it drew a crowd of families and visitors all eager to take in the festive vibes.nnAfter enjoying the decorations, we headed upstairs to the 1909 Dining Precinct, and it did not disappoint. The variety of good quality restaurants here is impressive — plenty of authentic Asian eateries offering everything from hotpot to noodles and dumplings. We grabbed a fantastic meal, and the lively atmosphere added to the whole experience. It was busy, but the energy was positive and everyone seemed to be having a great time celebrating.nnMarket City really knows how to do Lunar New Year in style. A great spot for food, festivities, and family fun — highly recommend stopping by during the celebrations.

The new food court lower level, if you want to call it that, is very nice. Lots of different options. Something for everyone's taste. A bit dark, but reasonably quiet enough. It is next to other Markets, produce stands, as well as souvenirs shops. Highly recommended!! Not only for the low prices, but for the experience as well. I love visiting these shops.

Good to see maintenance of Chinese cultural traditions in the heart of Chinatown. Came here to visit Madam Tot for her special calligraphy for the new year. Beautiful as always! A real gem! Hope this tradition will be upheld every year to celebrate our multicultural community.

This is the place for deals on almost everything from food to gadgets and clothes to massages plus across the street is a few hundred dime in and take away food choices.  I just like hanging around and enjoying the food and drinks.

Market City is such a fun place to visit in the heart of Haymarket. It has a great mix of outlet shops, Asian supermarkets, and plenty of food options. Paddy’s Market downstairs is always buzzing – perfect for fresh fruit, snacks, and souvenirs. The centre itself feels clean and well looked after, and the dining area upstairs has some really nice Asian restaurants. It’s also super easy to get to by train or light rail. A good spot to shop, eat, and explore if you’re around Chinatown!
