The newly renovated Manhattan is in the heart of Toorak Village, our trendy new look menu and wait staff will take care of you while you enjoy your meal.
It is believed that the dwelling at 448 Toorak Rd has been a restaurant/cafe/bar for the best part of a quarter of a century. The previous owners presided over the originally named Manhattan, then Mbar, for 23 years. The current owners, David Dick & Matthew Stribley, bought the business in June 2010. They inherited a busy, vibrant and popular eatery with a significant list of regular customers and a healthy group of “walk-ins”.
It has been David’s and Matt’s intentions in the first year of managing the restaurant to get to know as many customers as possible and to fulfil their culinary requirements. Along with key front of house staff Dotan and Hamish, chef Peter, and new Head Chef Jeremy (formerly of Porgie & Mr Jones, and Richmond Hill Cafe & Larder), we are fully committed to providing the type of food, beverages, and service that customers will be proud of.
A brand new renovation of the downstairs restaurant reflects the New York theme that is conveyed in the renamed “Manhattan”. A cheerful, vibrant, yet cosy and social environment makes Manhattan a great place to meet over a drink, or savour wholesome breakfasts, lunches, or dinners seven days a week. Much of the previous menu has been retained, however there are many exciting dishes that have been carefully selected by our diligent team in the kitchen. Our wine list complements our menu with a diverse range of varietals and regions on offer. We hope your experience at Manhattan will be what you want to make it.
Upstairs at Manhattan is a popular Function Room which can cater for sit down dinners, or stand up finger food parties. Over the years, many guests have celebrated 21st’s, 30th’s, 40th’s, etc as well as seasonal functions.
