So thought I would try the MH Tavern, plus was beer was cold, calamari was tender.nMy 180g steak was well small. It was over cooked, I asked for medium, there was more sauce than stake. For 4 groups inside it 30 mins for my food, and everyone else was already eating. Staff were present but not friendly.
Good little Tavern , with a strong focus on kids and family….kids play area…. Sports area with pokies … generous sized main meals…. And friendly and accommodating staff were very helpful and happy
I’ve been to Mango Hill Tavern multiple times before, but tonight absolutely blew me away. Mother’s Day was understandably busy, yet the service and timing were incredible from start to finish.nnA huge shoutout to Ellie, who was honestly exceptional. She had to ID me after I’d already ordered my martini and unfortunately I didn’t have my ID on me, so I had to quickly drive home to grab it. It was mildly inconvenient, sure, but she was simply doing her job properly and I genuinely can’t fault her for that at all. If anything, it was my mistake for not bringing it. What really stood out was how kind and professional she was about the whole situation. She even offered us dessert on the house because she appreciated that we were understanding, which was completely unnecessary but so thoughtful.nnDespite how busy the venue was, our food came out surprisingly fast and we never felt forgotten or stuck waiting around. The meals were HUGE too. I included a photo with my butter knife next to the chicken parmigiana for scale because the thing practically needed its own postcode.nnI also tried the vegan mud cake with coconut ice cream and wow. I’m not vegan myself, I just like trying different things, but it was genuinely amazing. You would never guess it was vegan, and the coconut ice cream paired with it perfectly.nnTonight reminded me why I keep coming back. Great food, generous portions, and service that genuinely makes you feel looked after. Ellie turned what could have been an awkward situation into such a positive experience, and I left seriously impressed.
First off, I want to thank them for having so many Vegetarian options!nnWe had 2 starters and 1 main total, for 2 people. The food was more dear than expected but there was a good amount of vego options. We ordered arancini balls, fried mushrooms and pumpkin halloumi salad.nnThe aracini balls were average...not bad and not outstanding either.nnThe fried mushrooms were like a brave vego attempt at buffalo wings, not my fav but I give chef credit for trying. Recommend using a different...less wet veg like cauliflower? as the breading seemed a bit soggy and not crispy probably due to mushroom moisture but I did love the whole idea of it. The pickles tasted like dill and sweet pickle juices were mixed. It was interesting to try it, but am true blue dill fan here.nnThe salad had a generous portion of halloumi bits. I liked the salad.nnWhen I went to get my beer, I wasn't impressed by being called love and sweetie. I don't know these people. I was offended. They poured my Guinness with 90% head. Had to wait several minutes before I could take my first sip. I guess better waiting at my table watching the game than waiting at the counter for my beer.nnThe food came out fairly quickly.nnOverall, commend for generous veg options for a pub...even if nothing wow'd us. Still, not sure I would come again. The entertainment wasn't good. Heaps of street noise. It did have Kayo so we could watch the footy.
For the price you pay, the food is very mediocre. $38 for a salad that was basically a bag of lettuce and 3 chicken tenders.nLooked like previous patrons let their kids have a food fight of some sorts. There was so much food on the ground that scattered to where we were sitting and wasnt cleaned up so the poor staff had to clean it up during a very busy dinner rush.nThe staff were amazing and friendly however, kudos to them and their professionalism.
