I had my key cut there. Super friendly guy, got it done in a few seconds. The shop smelled so nicely after new leather shoes and it reminded me of the old shoemakers from when I was a kid. Also the shoes looked lovely.

I got some shoes fixed from here recently which I am ultimately happy with, but something about the service did not sit right with me. I first placed the shoes in the hands of manfred to be repaired and the shop attendee said that the boss will need to call me back on whether or not that shoe can be fixed as the sole was cracked and seemed too far gone. He said if it costs more than $85 to fix they will definitely call me, but if not I can probably pick up by that weekend. A week passed and I called on the weekend to see if I can pick up the shoes. I called and it seemed my shoes weren't even looked at. The person on the phone said their boss will call me on Monday. I waited til Wednesday before I called again. When I called the person said the sole cannot be repaired and needs to be completely replaced, and it could cost $95 or more. I told him I wanted to come in on the weekend to check what kind of heel he would replace it with. The person on the phone agreed and said that would be fine as the boss will be in the store that weekend. So that Saturday I went into the shop to see what heel they would offer me only to find that the shoe's heel was already replaced. I was happy that it could be repaired so just paid the $95 (he said he gave me a discount even though it should cost more, implying it was because he went ahead with the repairs without checking with me). The more I wear it though the more I wish I was given the choice on whether or not to go ahead with the repair. The original heel had a more delicate look and added a different feel to the shoe now. The heel that it was replaced with is a standard, much flatter and rough design than the original heel. Ultimately I am amazed it was able to be fixed, but fixing it without my expressed ok to do so, after making an agreement to meet and chat about it before the repair isn't a very trustworthy move. Also even though I'm happy with my shoe's new lease on life, the craftsmanship isn't perfect as I found a chip on the new sole and some remnants of glue. I feel I would've been much happier with the outcome had communication been better and everything was more transparent.
