Malay Momma was a new Malaysian eatery in Southbank. We ordered the crispy egg noodle with beef and the fried salt pepper chicken ribs for lunch. The noodle was perfectly crispy though the sauce was a little bland. The fried chicken ribs were nicely seasoned. The portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable making the dishes great value. There were quite a lot of options on their menu, and I looked forward to tasting more of their dishes.
In Melbourne for a few days after a workshop and ended up grabbing dinner at Malay Momma. It was a busy place with eat in and takeaway. I had the beef spring rolls and the Chicken curry. Both were delicious. The chicken curry was so tasty and flavourful. Absolutely recommended for yummy Malaysian food
We had garlic prawns and honey soy chicken for the mains and crab Skwerd for the entree. It was not too bad but pretty much preferred the chili sauce instead. Rice serving was massive.
We were in the city and looking for halal Asian food. Went at this place unplanned for lunch. The restaurant serves amazing food. We had lemon fish, chicken skewers, roti canai chicken, and seafood noodles. The food was well-cooked, tasted great, and the service was good too! You do get a sort of table service but not fully. The food will be served at the table and for ordering the food or getting water for the table you can help yourself. The staff is very friendly though! It is a busy restaurant for take away and does not have much footfalls. So we enjoyed the lunch at the restaurant by ourselves. I found the place a bit unclean and smelled a bit due to the lack of ventilation, I guess. That is the reason why I rated them four stars.
4.75/5 Delicious quick meal!! Hidden Malaysian restaurant in Southbank I will definitely come back for the delish Laksa!! Service 5/5 The reception lady was super friendly and sweet! Chicken Laksa 5/5 Super creamy soup with LOTS of noodles! There was plenty of chicken and other goodies like tofu puff, fish cakes and some veggies. And it’s only 13 bucks, super recommended!! These days, we can hardly get anything under $15 at dine-in restaurants in Melbourne CBD… so it’s worth the short travel on foot Seafood Kwey Teow Fried noodles 5/5 Everyone’s all-time favourite and yes, I’m basic . Super chewy noodles and flavourful charred sauce. It’s a nice portion to fill u up, but avoid it if you are on the keto diet. Trust me; it feels good to smash carbs once in a while!! Curry puff 4/5 It came after we finished all our mains, so we couldn’t finish it. It was fresh out of the fryer and tasted super good tho!
Being a Malaysian myself, I was really disappointed with the quality and flavours of this restaurant. Speedy service but that's about it. Food lacked in flavour. Ordered salt pepper wings and there was no seasoning at all. My meat was served cold and warm, not hot at all. Service wasn't very friendly. Parking is extremely hard. Prices are cheap for Southbank but I wouldn't go again!
We were late and the waitress welcomed us in although they closed at 3pm. We had vegetarian laksa which was perfect. The waitress was very friendly and chatted to us while we ate..Food: 5/5
Do you ever stop in the middle of your meal to review a restaurant because it’s THAT good? That’s the flavour and quality of malaymomma!! Absolutely unheard of quality-to-value ratio. The food is prepared and served so fast and tastes ungodly. Would rate 6/5 stars if I could, genuinely one of the best food experiences I’ve had ever!!
We ordered Singapore Noodles, Chicken Curry Laksa ,Satay Chicken, Lemon Lime Ice Tea..All of which were amazing, not too spicy but worth the price. I love the plants they have all around
Great food which is backed up by great prices. Entree Satay Chicken Skewers x2, Roti, Beef Rendang, Rice and can of drink for $22. Daily specials board at the counter with meals and rice for $9.90. Will be going back soon for sure.
