Great pies, great service and a must stop on your waterfall circuit tour. We made the short detour to Malanda bakery to give our international guests a proper Aussie meatpie experience. All the review are right, the pies here are amongst the best this Aussie has ever had and provided a perfect reflection of Aussie hospitality.
This is a great example of a traditional Aussie bakery! It’s a small family-fun operation with a standard offering of bread, sweets, coffee and drinks. I was very impressed with the large selection of meat pies! I grabbed a brekkie pie early on a Saturday morning and washed it down with a long black. The place was a hive of activity in the morning with people buying their daily loaf of bread and grabbing a newspaper. Very friendly and warm hospitality from the staff too. If you’re visiting Malanda and haven’t had an Aussie meat pie then this would be a place to experience what many Aussies remember from their childhood as the local bakery.
First time visiting Malanda Bakery and was very satisfied. Greeted and welcomed with a smile. Everything looked and tasted fresh. Customer service was great. Variety of options. We bought 2 pies, a roll, along with a couple of cakes/tarts for only $25. Served by 2 gentlemen that were very kind. Thanks guys!
Yummy, classic bakery feels. Great value, 2 pies, sausage roll, beesting and a lamington $23. All the pies were true to there flavours, classic sausage roll loved the pastry! Friendly staff too, thanks Malanda Bakery
To be fair we got there at 2 pm and the Pies had been sitting in the warmer for some time. They were dry and had a fair amount of grissle in them. Certainly had better pies before. Coffee was nice though. It's ok. Jim
This was my first visit to Malanda Bakery,was pleasanly surprised,we ordered a meat pie,it was beautiful, and the coffee's were hot and hit the spot,tables were nice and clean,it was very busy,but the guy behind the counter couldn't help us enough,,will go back,

Delicious pie Fair price. Nice spot in town and excellent selection. The apple donut was cold, dense and dry. Not a fan. But the pie was great. Unfortunately, the staff were abit gruff. And seemingly indifferent. I come from a small town, smaller than most. Much smaller than Malanda, that's for sure. And my town runs on tourism. Sadly, this place the two younger staff at the front anyway seem to have that attitude that if you aren't from their town you don't get good service. They were kind and welcoming to locals behind us, but not to us. so mixed review, I'd go back for the pie. But not for the customer service. The lady with purple hair though, she looked like pure joy. Smiling. Happy. Excellent customer service. I wish she had served us.
A must stop in if you're travelling near there. Friendly staff. They have everything from fresh bread to pies and sausage rolls. You can eat in also but try and get in early or you will miss out. They also have the option of phoning and ordering in advance so you never miss out. Great menu but you must try from their sweets cabinet. Never disappoints.
