Delicious food every time.nDecently priced, expansive menunnFood came out super fast, but was a little bit too hot when served, had to wait for it to cool down.nnThey don't do split billsnnWaitress couldn't understand me when ordering, had to repeat a few times.nnSuits vegans very wellnNo music playing, very noisy and crowded.nnDidn't open doors till 6pmnnChairs aren't too comfortable, nbut apart from that it's great.
Dine in for 5 on a busy night. It is very noisy that some of us find it quite hard to follow the conversation on the table.nnThe 5 of us shared a large claypot rice, combination crispy noodle, salted egg soft shell crab and deep fried sliced barramundi with tamarind sauce. Good portion of food served and reasonably priced.nnThe claypot rice is a bit cold on arrival. You don't get the sizzle that is usually associated with a claypot dish. And I think that it is also missing the burnt rice on the bottom. Not quite sure if this unique to Vietnamese claypot rice but the hk and malaysian version I'm used to usually has the burnt rice.nnThe combination crispy noodle I find lacking in sauce. It leaves too much of really crispy noodle and made it hard to share and serve.nnThe soft shell crab is a shocker. The batter is so thick u can barely taste the crab meat. The salted egg yolk taste is also barely there. I would definitely give it a skip.nnThe star of the night is definitely the barramundi. The light crispy batter that could soak up the sauce is to die for. It comes as a pleasant surprise given how big a contrast it is with the soft she crab batter.nnAll in all I'm unsure if the quality of food is due to the fact that they were so busy last night. Nevertheless the fish punched above its weight and saved the dinner.
As usual Mai kitchen doesn't disappoint.nBirthday dinner, fantastic vegan options, the usual favorites were had...nSatay skewers, lemongrass chilli stir fry and Laksa. Leftovers taken home
This is the best Pho I have ever tried. I love this place and food is fantastic, people here are nice. When I was in Adelaide, I came here at least once a week. And now I moved and I always miss this place. Here is the first place I’d go when I am back Adelaide.
My partner first took me to Mai’s about a year ago and we’ve been coming almost every week since! It’s our favourite restaurant ever!! The staff are absolutely wonderful and always welcome us with kindness and enthusiasm. The service is SO FAST and the food is INCREDIBLE. I cannot recommend Mai’s more!!!!!
