We were a group of 10 people and the staff were great, very attentive from the moment we got in there until we left. The food is always amazing when I’ve eaten here so was glad to share the experience with some of my friends who hadn’t been here before. 100% recommend!
Have gone here many times. Always enjoyed the great value deal and high quality duck pancakes. However, it is sad to see the decline in quality that has occurred at Mahjong. Staff became less friendly, deal is gone and the tastiness of the food also decreased. Very ordinary place now.
Tried to get a walk in booking which was fine but the host was unbelievably rude. I’ve been here before and the food was okay but not amazing, I’m any case the food has never been good enough for the host to be that rude. DO BETTER!Recommended dishesDumplings
$39 all you can eat yumcha was a pretty good deal if you can eat a lot. the food was decent though the dumplings were not. the dumplings skins were thick and starchy. dessert was good. staff were helpful and efficient. the restaurant was nice & cosy.
Very hip Chinese restaurant, with a cool bar and a nice cocktail selection. They do $39 pp all-you-can-eat yum cha on Tuesdays! Will have to try it next time. We had the crab and prawn dumplings, Dan Dan noodles, Kung fu chicken and steamed Chinese broccoli although they may have given us Asian greens instead. Some items were slightly pricey, so I would probably recommend getting the unlimited "yum cha" next time... But we did not regret having the delicious fried ice cream they even split one portion into 3 minis for us because we were sharing! Great service and fab experience!
As a Catonese, to be honest, the taste is alright. The wonton filling is quite salty and can't taste the prawn and the skin is thick. The Singapore noodles were OK, can't taste the curry. The take away portion is small so the price for takeaway is very expensive.
Probably the best and freshest yum cha in Melbourne. Lost a star for not bringing the desserts even after asking three time, eventually we gave up. Frequent and generously delivered, staff all lovely even on a very busy day. Good options for gluten free although we had to ask a few times. Many different dumpling options, calamari and prawn toast were super fresh and fantastic. All in all delicious and can’t wait to come back.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE FOOD, the prawns dish was $36. for 6 prawns and no other food around or decoration, next was a steak at $36. again, suppose to be the best, under cook and it was meat pieces instead, spring roll was died like cardboard, the calamari tasted like ammonia, the friend rice with pork had no pork, the wine tasted like vinegar. we tasted the food and left losing over $260. also there were 3 middle age men drinking near the front window, that were so loud, the place is for BOGAN yes Bogan, never again forgot to mention that the prawns were raw, not done properly. finally upon leaving the Girls asked if we enjoyed the food, i said not at all it was rubbish. the at the door she said see you next time, i reply NO WAY. am not expert, but i know my food...keep your money stay away, we had to buy pizza on the way home as it was too late for anything else.i have to give 1 star otherwise it wouldn't post...
Extremely overpriced. Kung Fu chicken was like shopping centre food court chicken. $5 for steamed rice. This was the second time i ordered from Mahjong because i wanted to give them a second chance. The Kung Fu chicken was drowning in a mild sauce with roasted peanuts in the shell. It seems like the chef just added them from a bag of supermarket nuts. It was not spicy/chilli AT ALL.
Absolutely amazing!!! I would 100% recommend. Came for dinner because there was a bit of a wait at Milk the Cow down the road. So glad we did. The place was practically empty; really not sure why, as the food was superb. Pork buns and dumplings were delicious and food came out pretty quickly. The waiters were very attentive. The house red/Mahjong shiraz also very nice. The clear winner, however, was the duck. Succulent, crispy skin, amazing flavours. We ordered a second because it was so amazing. And I don't eat duck. Next time I'm in the area I am definitely calling in.
