Ripper corner café, close to the Springvale Road and Wellington Road thoroughfares, yet quietly a world away in its own tranquil neighbourhood setting.nnReally good coffee also sold by the 500g bag, very well executed by the staff. Service is friendly and very welcoming, with everyone making sure you're being looked after. A delicious and malty chocolate milkshake was divine as well.nnThere are multiple spaces, from outside, to the vibrant front section amid the service area, to a quieter escape further back where you can leave the world behind, and an enticing and embracing rear courtyard.nnA fantastic addition to this end of Mulgrave, and highly accessible as a stop during a commute or any travelling during the day. If only you knew about it. Well know you do. Or you should!
We recently visited Mackie Mulgrave and overall had a good experience. We ordered the lamb chilli egg, which was absolutely delicious and very generously portioned. The lamb was soft and well cooked, and the dish was full of flavour without being overwhelming. I was completely full by the end, which is always a good sign! The yoghurt that came with it was also really tasty and complemented the dish perfectly.nnA big plus for us was how accommodating the staff were. My husband is lactose intolerant, and they had no issues replacing the yoghurt with avocado, which was a great alternative and showed good attention to dietary requirements. That flexibility is always appreciated.nnWe also tried the Kooling Kriptsa juice, which was refreshing and enjoyable! a nice addition to the meal. Unfortunately, the matcha was the only downside of our visit. It was quite powdery, didn’t seem to be mixed properly, and tasted very bitter, so it wasn’t something we would order again.nnThat said, the food itself was excellent, well portioned, and satisfying, and the overall experience was positive. With a small improvement on the drinks side, it would easily be a 5-star visit. We would definitely return for the food again and recommend it to others.
Second time here and still a great place to be. The pork benedict is quite good, generous with the eggs and bread as it should be. 2 pieces of bread, 2 eggs, a lot of places miss this and leaves you wanting more, I recommend this dish. Onion rings were decent as well, really crunchy but a little too salty for my liking. Friendly staff.nWish there was a staple big breakfast here, instead of just special events like fathers day.
Corn fritters were a little dry and doughy also a bit bland. A little too much salad for my liking. The picked onion on served with it was quite nice.nAvo toast and blt was goodnMushroom bruschetta was oknStrawberry match was disappointing very weak matcha. Iced chocolate was ok. Overall your standard cafe
Came here on an Easter Saturday, forgot they had a weekend and public holiday surcharge until I was about to pay... Then came a table of 8 and they kept pushing our table so we had to physically move our table to accommodate them. Expensive lunch $70+ without drinks but the food was quite nice. We were also reminded multiple times they closed at 1pm...
