We chose Bistro Lulu to celebrate a milestone birthday and it was perfect. The service was excellent, warm and attentive. The atmosphere was relaxing, quiet and chilled, just perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon.nnThe food outstanding. We enjoyed the most wonderful spread. the rabbit terrine, steak frites, monk fish, duck, soufflé, crème caramel and granita were all absolutely delicious. Every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavour.nnWe have visited a few times now and Bistro Lulu never fails to impress, it is consistently wonderful every time. They made our special occasion truly memorable and we cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.
Fine French food that is flavourful, excellent, and honours the classical parts of the cuisine.nnHighlight includes the monkfish and scallop farci - silky and tender. The chips are also worth mentioning as they are cooked well and seasoned. All the entrees were delicious.nnThere was a bit of a wait between entrees and mains because of a large group that took up the length of one of the side walls. This was the main let down, otherwise once the food arrived it was decent.nnPortions are really decent here, the mountain of chips perhaps a little too high however with the kids around, this wasn’t a big problem.
Great long lunch with food that was so close to being next level.nnThe beef tartare was the standout. Not overly minced, just beautiful fresh pieces of beef, a silky egg yolk on top, and crisp potatoes on the side. Clean, simple, and really well done.nnAlso loved the bean salad with pear. The pear had soaked up the dressing perfectly, which gave the whole dish a great balance of sweetness and acidity, plus really nice texture.nnThe duck was another win. Well cooked and full of flavour.nnThe asparagus unfortunately didn’t quite land for us. We were expecting it to be grilled for more depth of flavour, and the pairing on the plate just didn’t come together as well as the other dishes. The carrot salad was good, and the cheese platter was enjoyable overall, though the blue cheese was milder than we usually prefer.nnDessert highlight was the crème caramel. Absolute classic and beautifully executed. So good, especially when you don’t see it on menus that often anymore.nnOverall, the presentation was fantastic and the quality of ingredients really showed. Flavours just fell a little short of amazing in a few places.nnFood: 7/10nService and ambience: 10/10nnHuge shoutout to the service team. The wine recommendation was spot on, and special thanks to Dee for such warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly service. It really made the afternoon.nnWould happily go back, especially for that tartare and dessert.
Excellent service throughout the night. Thank-you team for hosting our company dinner. The food was sensational from start to finish. A great selection of beverages on offer as well. I would highly recommend opting for the set menu. The set menu highlights the very best of French cuisine. Fantastic lively ambience suited for both small and large groups.
We’ve been dining here for many years, and it continues to be a standout French restaurant in every sense. The consistency is remarkable — from the beautifully executed dishes to the impeccable attention to detail that’s evident in every visit.
