I took my partner here for her birthday, we did a tour and it was excellent! The vineyard is in a beautiful setting. Our tour guide Tom I believe was great, very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We sampled over six different wines, all of which were very pleasant. It’s so pleasing to see the development of English wine. I would highly recommend.
A really enjoyable guided tour of the vineyards at Small Hythe and of their wine making facilities. Obviously followed by the tasting of 6 of their wines. Martin, our guide, pitched it just right and was approachable and informative. It took just over 2 hours and in my opinion was really good value for £25, considering the quality of wines tasted. A beautiful setting too.
We enjoyed this winery very much. We were on an excursion with Viking Cruise. We landed in Dover and enjoyed the bus trip thru the beautiful countryside of Kent. Upon arrival we met our tour guide who took our group thru the vineyard & winery. We learned how the soil & climate enables the production of aromatic white, red, sparkling wines. We had a tasting at the end of the tour and I literally just did a taste. It was noon and too early for me to be drinking full samples of 9 wines. It was very informative and fun. And the bubbles were my favorite! They also are the winery supplier to many British Icons including Gordon Ramsay. Afterwards, we had a two-course lunch at the Michelin star restaurant, Swan with produce and meats sourced from the region's finest farms. Our meal was delicious. We were served a plate with delicious prime rib and a gorgeous big popover. Then we received bowls of beets, green beans and creamy cauliflower. Naturally wine was served. For second course, we enjoyed a delicious dessert of chocolate and cherry yumminess. There was time for us to explore the beautiful grounds and get a little shopping done in the gift shop. We really enjoyed the experience and highly recommend a visit to the Chapel Down. **I'm only giving this a 4 star since everything was delightful in spite of a rude hostess in the Swan restaurant. She was adamant about where we sat and there were many tables empty and available in our group area. It was the only unfortunate part of the experience.
Enjoyed a tour and wine tasting. Very informative and well presented. The wine tasting was excellent. Good choice in a lovely tasting room overlooking the vines. Nice shop and choice of wines.
Fantastic tour and tasting experience. Knowledgeable tour guide and excellent range of top quality local wines. Arrive early and have a drink or snacks from the shop. The on-site restaurant serves top class food in a modern but cosy environment.
A fantastic vineyard tour followed by a wine tasting - our guide was brilliant and the wine is phenomenal. I'd highly recommend booking the wine tasting experience here!
Great day out walking the vineyard and followed by the all important tasting lesson. Henry our guide and wine connoisseur was very knowledgeable, warm and friendly. Highly recommended.
Had a wonderful afternoon touring and wine tasting. Big thanks to Russell for the informative & entertaining tour. Really enjoyed tasting delicious wines we wouldn't usually have tasted. Would definitely recommend and advise getting a taxi both ways. Unfortunately I was driving. The tasting glasses are generous!
Amazing tour by Martin, he was brilliant with his knowledge and warmth, loved his tasting session. Restaurant was really a great standard.
