We visit Laurie's Studio last Saturday "Open Studios". I really did enjoy his Sculpture Garden and Gallery and a lovely talk. Thank you Laurie. I wish you still a lots beautiful idea...
We'd seen a brochure at our accommodation about Laurie's Sculpture Garden as both of us are whimsical artists ourselves, we had to visit. What a lovely surprise to find Laurie there himself in the middle of one of his eclectic creations. We chatted for a while then looked at the current exhibition inside. Wow. Lovely pieces. We then spent around a half hour walking around the grounds where there are an abundance of amazing pieces. Whether made from old bike rims or engine blocks, there is something for everyone here. Many of you will say 'I remember those' or 'my grandpa used to have one of those' because each piece is so different and has a story to tell. You may need to look for some pieces as they can be low to the ground, in a tree, hidden behind another and so on. Laurie was keen to show us his laser cutter which to me was so sweet. He made us our own little icon octopus for free but we dropped him a $20 to say thank you. There are no refreshments on site but there are toilets. Plenty of parking onsite as well. I'm sure if you wanted to site under a tree and have lunch Laurie wouldn't mind. Do know that Laurie is an artist and like most artists is a generous soul. Please treat him, his family and his sculptures with respect. I snapped alot of photos so only putting up my faves. Don’t miss the mirror mosaic Mercedes We will return.
Electic surprising artwork inside and outside walk with Galahs post outside workshop where all is inspirational. A Wayne Pollard trees photographic in hot pink and orange regrowth sold me on different artworks every time I visit. Capark all abilities Personal welcome to
Great place to visit, art always for sale. Then off to Jindi cafe for coffee!
This was a very interesting place. All the sculptures are made of recycled materials. Nice place for a stroll.
Sweet place to go with kids with a cool playground. Laurie is a charming man who makes very beautiful pieces and has a real passion for promoting artists in his nice new gallery.
A large sculpture garden with filled with interesting steel sculptures ranging from amusing to edgy. And in the gallery smaller steel works of art. A great place to spend some time free entry and just down the road from the Jindi Caf' to get a coffee and food with nice view.
Gorgeous gallery and garden. The artwork is interesting and thought provoking. Laurie is generous with his time to talk about art. Great facilities. My kids love playing there.
Inspiring, love the upcycled art pieces, very clever man and enjoyed the Art on show by other artists.
