Since 2018 when I ran for mayor, I have been dealing with repeated unwanted contact with one individual who has become obsessed. This person has assaulted me, damaged my car twice, followed me, told me they fantasise about and plan on killing me, gone to my house and girlfriends house on multiple occasions. I have records of these interactions happening all through 2019 and they are being investigated by police. For this reason I have had to go to court numerous times. While in the court building, the person involved would deliberately sit close to me and provoke me in the waiting room. I have told security about this, as it says on a plaque on the wall in the building that if you feel unsafe that you should notify security. The security told me that he's allowed to talk to me if he wants, even though I'm applying for restraint order. On another occasion I notified security that I was being harassed, they told me I could go into the court room to avoid the person harassing me. They followed me into the court room and sat next to me, so I left the court and went back out into waiting room. Then they came out of the court and sat near me again, so I went back in. This continued over and over until I was called to stand before the court. The security lady saw this happening, said nothing and did nothing about it. I have made a complaint about the security and the issues I have just mentioned. In response I was told that I may appear by telephone for future court proceedings. It seems absurd to me that the court are unable to handle their own internal security issues. In the case of my application for a restraint order, I have had to go to mediation where the other person stated that if they wanted to kill me then they would do it. This was allowed by the mediator. We agreed upon a contract to have no contact with each other. The other person broke this contract numerous times. I was told in the mediation that if the contract is broken then my application for a restraint order would be reissued. When the contract was broken, I was told that the restraining order has been dismissed and I would have to apply for another one. So they aren't even consistent. So I made another application for a restraint order, as was advised by the police. And once again they put it through to mediation. This just adds more unwanted contact with the person in trying to have nothing to do with. I have been dealing with this ridiculous nonsense since 2018 and all through 2019 received regular threats to my safety, I have already been knocked out and was messed up for a whole week with no repercussions to the one who did it. I have a stupid amount of evidence of the stalking and harassment. And I looked up the legal definition of the word stalking in our jurisdiction, using the internet to cause someone to become apprehensive or fearful is stalking, by our own definitions. At every point my mental health has been undermined, both due to the anxiety caused by thw ongoing situation and the frustration of being screwed around by the court system which should be in place to protect people like me from others who want to cause harm. I have aspergers and bipolar and for most of 2019 I was seriously considering suicide because it's hard to see a way out of this
Needs a big time upgrade to the system, the wait time is unbelievable, 5 hour for 1 minute hearing, they should send you a text msg 10 min prior to your hearing once you checked in so you can go do your other work, waiting this many long hour is punishment before you even pledge guilty yo! #peace #maybebuildanothercourtfloor #stopkillingpeoplewithbordom
The law has very little to do with justice here..
Done and dusted
