I had a similar experience. They came out to quote to replace my hot water cylinder. Charged an arm and a leg and when I negotiated on price they cut the price slightly then added a charge for the quote at the end of the job. Had to argue it with the office. They also took the old copper hot water cylinder I’d asked them to leave - by that stage I didn’t have the energy to argue and let it go but I’ll never use them again.

Tried to charge me $118 just to do a simple quote on a leaking HWC. Was half an hour early so he could drop his kid at school at the same time which is across the road from me, Charge me $12.95 in petrol ??!! What the Hell !!? spent 15 mins looking at it gave me a rough quote I said I would think about it. Charged me for a an Hours work and then also tried to charge me $12.00 ( Consumables ) for using his flash light ???
