Wine delicious, and a bonus for being biodynamic. Sue owner is passionate and learned in the area. We were two ladies visiting on a Friday afternoon and will definitely be returning with a larger group soon.
We were recommended to visit this vineyard after recently touring vineyards in Orange. What a find! We did 2 tasting flights, a red and white. Their Riesling was outstanding, can see why it won a major award. We also specifically loved their Chardonnay and Syrah ended up buying a dozen of the 3. Owner / Operator shared a lot of detail about the history of their vineyard. We loved our interactions as she very engaging. Thanks so much for such a lovely experience on our way to Canberra.
4/5 stars for the D&K Kitchen restaurant. Food was really nice. But experience ruined by the cellar door. 1/5 stars for the cellar door, poor service, barely a mouthful for the tastings. The tastings were 3 for $20 which were non redeemable on a wine purchase. So we bought one bottle of wine which was essentially $85 due to tasting costs. Perhaps would of bought two if I had a real tasting amount in the drop of wine we received.
Cellar door is probably not worth visiting even if you're nearby. $20 a tasting for 3 wines, and they pour the SMALLEST drops in the glass, and it's not redeemable on bottles. This is by far the worst tasting deal in the region. It could be ok if the experience was premium, but it was a small room where everything we said privately was overheard and responded to by the owners, they weren't informative about the wine, and the wines weren't anything special! Steer clear! Edit: I can see the owners replied addressing the points. Great, but they haven't acknowledged that the deal is a rip off and the customer service was claustrophobic and strange. The outdoor area was also THICK with spider webs that had clearly been undisturbed for months/years, so I'm not sure why they suggest that option. I would still say steer clear.
Beautiful food, great wines, definitely worth a visit. Went back today for wine tasting. The Owners are a lovely couple. Great tasting. Different to most and enjoyed.
This was the second time we had been to Lark Hill, so we were able to compare pre CV and post CV experience. We miss the standing around the bar and being able to try all the range, but totally understand why things had to change for this year. The team on the bar were wonderful. They invited us in and got us seated quickly. The team were knowledgable and keen to engage with us with a depth of knowledge, not just about their wines, but the industry. They gave a generous pour so we could taste the wine and fully evaluate the range properly. I give this cellar door a high five and a must visit for anyone in the area serious about great wine. See you next year!
Great ambience with lots of room. Flavours blending seamlessly into a beautiful lunch. My duck was ducklious, the wine with deep fruity flavour. Guest exclaimed best desert, something with blackberries. Yum
