Came in after having booked a table around noon for 6:30 dinner. Rocked up 20 minutes early no problems. Proper pub food menu, we both went the house made lasagna and shared a garlic bread with a plan to have room for dessert. The dessert special sounded amazing, but we were both feed into submission with a very tasty lasagne, with really good chips and a fresh crunchy salad. The bread was excellent cheesy garlic bread too. Super quick and friendly service.
This pub has improved so much. The staff are friendly and you can see everyone is working hard as it’s often busy. On our most recent visit we enjoyed the burger and a parma both of which were great pub food. The beer garden is lovely and it’s so nice to sit outside. Looking forward to visiting again.
Booked well in advance so they knew it was a large group . Meals were poor quality, orders wrong, and staff that had very poor customer service .Would not recommend. As requested below I have discussed the many issues and am pleased to say management were very receptive to the feed back...Happy to give the dinning room another visit ..
First time dining here as a family group after hearing good things. Booking was easy over the phone glad we did as it is popular. Plenty of tables in the many dining spaces. Large kids room and outdoor beer garden. Menu has lots of options, pub classics and favorites. Dish portions are generous and about right. Well presented and seasoned. Enjoyed the porterhouse steaks. Kids meals come with too many chips if being critical. Decor is relaxed. Service is very casual and not intrusive. Will definitely be back to try more. Kid-friendliness: Large kids meals Kids playroom Dietary restrictions: There are some gluten free options but check when ordering to make sure they are 100% accurate.
Out today @thelancefieldhotel great service and delicious food. I opted for the mustard on steak. Rabbit warren of a pub but great character. I feel the beer garden would give off serious chilled vibes at night with the lights on display and greenery for a backdrop Hotel highlightsQuiet
Wonderful service, food and atmosphere. It was great to chill in the huge beer garden. I'm looking forward to coming back.Rooms: 5/5
The Lancefield Hotel has recently changed ownership - and what a breath of fresh air it is! I've been here twice now since the change of ownership and they have served up some top quality steaks both times at a very reasonable price, the porterhouse is only $35, it tastes fantastic and they don't skimp on the sides either with a mountain of chips being delivered. Now with the new owners, the food feels like it's made with pride, passion and love for the art that is hospitality. It's fantastic to see VB on tap at the Lancefield Hotel as this Melbourne staple has become shunned in recent times for some unknown reason, it's getting difficult to find on tap in Melbourne, but they have it here so rest assured if you enjoy the simpler things in life. Though it would be nice to see the Lancefield Hotel team up with some local microbreweries in our region to offer a greater selection of craft beer that's locally produced, at the moment the beer selection leaves a little bit to be desired if you have bourgeois tastes in the beer department and are a fiend for a craft beer - particularly with dark beers but this may be due to the seasonal nature of dark beers. At the moment they have Guinness available but no craft porters or dark ales at the time of this review. The service is great, with friendly front of house staff and the bar area is always chock full of locals from the region there to socialise. I feel like this is the atmosphere that a great pub would have had in an era that predates social media and the internet, it's certainly become a great social hub of Lancefield. There was also live music in the beer garden today for those who enjoy a venue with live music. The staff and the new owners of the Lancefield Hotel should take pride as I believe they are hands down the best pub in the Macedon Ranges. I've eaten at many a cafe, restaurant and pub across Australia as verified by my reviews, the Lancefield Hotel is one of the better pubs. Lancefield is going from strength to strength with fantastic local businesses, the efforts of which will see Lancefield become a day trip destination for people from Melbourne to come out and enjoy the top quality food and friendly atmosphere these local businesses and their hard working staff provide. They are forging a path, providing experiences that the entire Eastern side of the Macedon Ranges will be proud of - keep up the great work and keep flying the flag for Lancefield, to the business owners and the staff, your efforts are not going unnoticed. Those of you reading this from Melbourne, forget Woodend, come have a counter meal at the Lancefield Hotel. Food & drinks: Fantastic steak, plenty of sides, very good pricing. Beer has all the typical Melbourne staples, although could use the addition of craft beer from local craft breweries. Particularly more choices for dark beers like craft porters.
My rating is based on my gluten free meal. I ordered gf fish and chips and received grilled fish and a bit of salad. It was nice but didn't include chips and I went home hungry this seems to be common when ordering gf meals in restaurants generally. Compared to my mates Parma and chips not gf across the table, his plate was full and he said it was very nice, and he didn't go home hungry. I agree his meal looked fantastic and so did other meals on our table. Overall the venue had a good atmosphere and staff were friendly and helpful. Recommended for non gf meals.
Don't let the floorplan or decor mislead you, it's a top country pub with great and generous sized servings and plenty of options on and off tap. Sticky Date Pudding is a treat! Shows good food and service can survive without the need for gaming machines!Rooms: 5/5
Had lunch at the pub last week and thoroughly enjoyed the quality and choice of good pub food. Loved the relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff
