Laksa is an art, and Laksa Bar manages to create some of the best I have ever had. The Chicken Laksa is masterfully made, down to the garnish on top. I ate every last part of the dish, with my only regret being I couldn't have more. Cocktails are also quite nice, and they seem to have specials on them often.
I've never had much experience with Laksa, but I'm pretty sure these guys do a really really good one. Get a jug of beer for $11 and a Soft Shell Crab Laksa for about $15 that's the really big size - you'll be really happy with the feels afterwards. Service is really friendly. Glad I found this place.
For a place called Laksa Bar, their laksa is quite uninspiring not bad by any measure, just... ok. The one reason I would recommend this place for though is their spring rolls: they are the best spring rolls I've ever had. I would go there for that alone.
Please be warned! If you know what LAKSA is then you will be sorely disappointed by this food. Having read other reviews we decided to give it a try. I ordered the fish laksa and it came with wedges of tomato and a large, battered fillet of fish on top.. It was so sweet that the soup was inedible. Having lived in Malaysia for many years we are well placed to judge. This was the worst and most unauthentic laksa we have ever eaten. The service, staff and ambiance was pleasant, but the food was appalling!
Fantastic Asian style eatery with a stripped down menu featuring laksa and rice dishes in addition to typically Malaysian street food bar snacks. I stumbled frozen from the bitter Melbourne winter and had a large Kampung laksa for around $17 and it was worth every cent. I couldn't finish it. A huge mound of rice noodles I requested rice vermicelli in place of egg noodles and it was no bother mixed in with generous helpings of bean shoots, fried tofu, fish balls, tomato wedges, bok choy, mushrooms, half a fried egg and two extra large and glorious deep fried soft shell crab cut into 4 pieces. The crab was coated in a crispy crunchy yellow batter and the laksa I forgot to request it spicy but it really didn't matter in the end was cream my without being overwhelming and tasted very authentic, right down to the little bits of toasted ginger from the homemade curry paste that had been fried off and then dissipated into the soup. Staff were very, friendly and attentive without hovering. I'll definitely be going back - with friends so I can taste more of the menu. Excellent.
Friendly service. Excellent atmosphere. Staffs seems very tense. Food is extremely salty. Probably just my personal taste buds. But it was so salty that I couldn't take second bite.
I really enjoyed my lunch there... there were some negative reviews on Urbanspoon/Zomato however I think management have taken them all seriously and have changed their menu that was the first thing they said when I walked in and updated their decor. Food was reasonably priced, fresh and yummy - bringing some friends back on Friday night!
Easily my favourite place in Melbourne. The food is always amazing and the drinks are well priced. The service is good and the food always comes out quickly!
Good value, loved the giant soft shell crab laksa! Service was good. They all seemed happy. Will be back again.
They do what they say they do, Asian Street Food, and they do it well. Very Well! We Love Melbourne Travel Guide.
