I was excited to visit this museum after reading a local guide brochure. It lived up to the review too. I loved this entire town. Allow at least 3 hours as we ended up leaving earlier than we wanted to unfortunately after 2 hours. The displays were well set out and very informative. The history was an amazing read. Downstairs was mind blowing in particular with real life displays set out accompanied with well written information boards. Don't miss this one!
So informative and there were so many things to see! Worth every dollar. Also I highly recommend buying the Arrow Observer newspaper downstairs in the printing press - such a cool reprint and curation of the old local newspaper, and makes such a good read.Visited onPublic holidayWait timeNo wait
We don't normally do museums, but found this museum very interesting. Lovely exhibits. Staff was very friendly. Really enjoyed our visit.
Must visit if you’re in the area. Great museum - better than I expected! Loved the town feel and mannequins working in their shops. They also have cool hunt activities for the kids. The two ladies at the front desk were so lovely. Enjoyed the experience, thank you!
My husband and I truly enjoyed the displays and reading the fascinating information on items. We sat & watched the video as well which very interesting too. A lovely shop & friendly staff make such a huge difference. We had a wonderful visit. Thank you! Highly recommended!
Great fun for the kids with dress ups and a reindeer hunt. Interesting and educational with loads of activities for all the family. The surgery scene is a winner.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
The museum was way larger than I expected. Informative and well organized.
Absolutely loved this place. Great museum with tons to look at. The history that is kept here is fantastic and they had a fun game for the kids to play while looking through the exhibits. Did some gold panning in the river too.
Fabulous little museum, packed full of interesting displays. The immersive vintage village similar to the former display at Auckland museum will be a hit with adults and kids alike. Make sure you open all the doors! Just sayin' Informative displays and well laid out. Friendly staff. Could have spent much longer here but we arrived a little late.
The town itself is very beautiful. Situated on the bank of arrow river and mountains clad in pine trees. The museum is nicely maintained with informative displays of things dating back to the arrival of settlers in New Zealand. They have displays of things used in maritime, mining, currency notes of New Zealand, artistic things like musical instruments and paintings. They even have displays of fossils found in New Zealand of various birds and animals, which are now extinct. They have souvenirs shop and a cafe there for the tourists. It's a nice museum and nice little town to see.
