A romantic dinner awaits you at La Dolce Vita Ristorante! You can expect incredibly friendly staff, who wait on your every desire, frequently reminding you that your experience is "whatever you like" with a sincere smile. The food is delicious, fairly priced given the location, and reasonable in portion size. Of you'd like subtle alterations made to heighten your experience, the kitchen are more than happy to accommodate any reasonable requests you may have. The trade mark of this lovely establishment, and strong reason why you should book your next date night here, is the romantic atmosphere that welcomes you, Friday nights especially, toting live music to serenade you and your date. If a night to remember for all the right reasons is what you're looking for, look no further than La Dolce Vita Ristorante
This place is an icon and has been here for a long time. It’s great that the mini tower was lit up and was quite appealing. Service was great, kudos to the young staff members, they work really hard. The not so good parts: the desserts. Whilst they look aesthetically pleasing, the actual taste and texture was dry and crumbly. The coffees we ordered was not up to the usual standard and the Italian hot chocolate needs to go back to how it was made. As in thick and hot. For a while now they have been serving a very sweet hot chocolate, nothing Italian about it. This place is on a higher price point, and I guess it because you’re also paying for location, ambience and the fact that you can come later on at night. As such, I would sincerely hope they lift their dessert and drink game and take it back to the glory days that were. Last nights visit was after almost 11 months, and whilst we will return again at some future point, I really hope to update this review with regards to their desserts and hot drinks.
One of Brisbane’s most iconic spots - under the Eiffel Tower in Park Rd, Milton. Never been able to put my finger on it but the ambiance just feels ‘soulless’ and ‘unwelcoming’. Perhaps it’s the owners and staff who seem to hover like security guards. Always watching, never smiling. Just way too much brown and brick with brown marble tables. I think it’s trying to be authentic Italian but it feels like it needs an injection of genuine Italian personality ie:fun. Perhaps happy Italian music, some flowers/creeper vines up the tower? Flower beds are ‘dead’! Also, their prices are higher than anywhere. Tea $6.00! But no reason other than they need to cover their rent in Park Rd. Huge potential. Perhaps they are happy with the business they do. I love this spot but pop in only once a year when in the area and it is at least better than coffee club next door.
The food is great, but not amazing. And for the $25-$35 price tag plus 1hr wait on food noting it was a 20 person group, I expect the best Italian in town. The portion was a bit small and I was still hungry after. Even 4 pieces of garlic bread was $10.50. There was a couple of oddities too like not bringing cheese for the table’s pasta, and when it was requested, they brought one for a table of 20. The atmosphere is wonderful though and the staff very nice. Just not quite the experience I was hoping for.
Absolutely amazing food ! This was a wonderful find in Milton Brisbane . The food was authentic Italian cuisine and so flavoursome! Great wine list and we can't wait to return.
Went for our anniversary on Saturday night. Look of the restaurant/fake Eiffel tower definitely drew me into eating here. Plus a wide variety of gluten free options. Service was excellent but unfortunately I wouldn’t return. Was told by the waiter not to order GF pizza as it’s to risky, then when I had certain requirements for the GF pasta was also told not to order it.. I ordered steak.. at an Italian restaurant.. which was medium rare yet very chewy.. The scallops were tiny, we felt ripped off. Partners carbonara only had bacon in it Squid was nice and they fried it separately for me so it was GF. There was also an air wick spray right next to me that kept spraying me.. also no live music as stated on the website.
Last Saturday, I celebrated my birthday at this restaurant and we ordered their Spaghetti Marinara and Fettuccine con Gamberi. The food was absolutely amazing! Both dishes were cooked to perfection. Prior to our meal, we decided to order coffee since the kitchen opens at 5pm. Compared to other coffee shops in the city, their coffee was reasonably priced. As a Cappuccino lover, I was pleased with their coffee, and so was my partner. Despite the heavy rain outside, the dining experience was exceptional. Overall, it was a wonderful birthday celebration!
This place has clearly seen better days and despite its great loc in the heart of the Milton dining precinct, under the famous Eiffel Tower, with a cool alfresco ambience, I cannot recommend it. It’s clearly in need of a makeover or modernisation, probably with new ownership. It looks tired and old fashioned, the staff seem unmotivated, and the whole dining experience, from food, to service, toilets and atmosphere left us feeling underwhelmed. This is all a pity, as the potential is there for a first class restaurant in the best spot in Milton, offering outdoor or indoor dining. As it stands at the moment, it’s a sprawling rambling place which has indoor spaces but seems to offer only outdoor dining, so how would this work in winter? Granted, there are decent, industrial strength heaters positioned near the roof and we were able to keep warm on a chillier than normal spring night, but imagine if it was June or July, with sub-zero temps and pouring rain? Forget it. There were five staff on duty, almost one per occupied table, but still, the service was abysmal and they forgot to bring out one main meal. Long after my wife had finished her meal, I was still twiddling my thumbs, waiting for mine to arrive. I alerted one waiter, who seemed confused and uncertain as to what was going on. Eventually we told the maître d, who confessed that they had completely forgotten about it, but to his credit, he organised it quick smart and it came out within about five mins. But still, what were they thinking? That we would only order one main meal? Shows how inattentive they were. The food was a mixed bag. The first thing that we were told when we arrived was that the pizza oven was broken, so pizza was off the menu. Sounds a bit like “Fawlty Towers”. Imagine that: An Italian restaurant without pizza! Nevertheless we soldiered on. We ordered calamari for a starter to share but it was a disappointment. A plate of anaemic looking pieces of stringy calamari in a soggy batter. My wife’s lamb chops were decent enough, with two plumb and tender chops, but with not much else on the plate and being undercooked the first time around, they had to be sent back. My fettuccine ragu was a reasonable dish with fresh, tasty meat in a nice, al dente pasta. The marble tables and wicker chairs were solid and comfortable, but looking around me, the wooden timber features and the faux Italian columns, arches and wall frescos, complete with two statues at the front, all hark back to a bygone era of the 1970s reinforcing my belief that this place has probably been around here for decades, little has changed, they haven't moved with the times and are getting left behind by better places like Arrivederci across the road. The config also confused us, with the alfresco area sandwiched between two indoors spaces neither of which had any diners in them, and seemed to serve the purpose only of dealing with takeaway orders or accepting payment. Being a quiet weeknight, there was just a smattering of other diners, and as a previous reviewer has said, the atmosphere is a tad soulless and dull, although, to be honest, that didn’t worry me so much as the poor service and below par food offerings. Just sitting outside on the terrace is quite pleasant, and was probably the best feature of the place. Toilets are round the back, and as you walk to them, you'll pass by the open door of the kitchen and storage areas, none of which looked too appetising, and just confirmed in my mind, that this place is well past its prime. With Our Entertainment discount of 25% we paid 61 pesos for a beer, a cocktail, a plate of calamari, lamb chops and a pasta. That would have been 80 pesos without a discount. Not what I would consider as good value for money, so we won’t be rushing back. There are better options in Milton. Parking: Easy street parking nearby, no restrictions after hours.
Having dinner here was a lovely experience. We had excellent pizza and pasta followed by wonderful tirramisu and the most delicious Italian hot chocolate. The drinks and the service were also good.
Great food, pizza was awesome, very traditional! The service was really good as well, a young server managed to make sure we were all good even though he was juggling with a 20+ people table at the same time. Well done!
