Walked past this little gem and decided to just eat in. I have to say I was not disappointed. Super happy with the pizza, the service and the intimate the environment is eating pizza and watching experts work their magic. The staff were super warm and welcoming not only to myself, but other customers that went by. The only other feedback I have is that I wish there was more of a range when it comes to Italian wine. Otherwise if you do have a chance, definitely visit La Coppola!
Lovely traditional Italian pizza and great little restaurant. Enjoyed sitting outside and great little spot for people watching. Staff were lovely and the chef an old Italian guy was super cool. Great spot we will be back.
Extremely friendly family owned restaurant with amazing pizza. Our group ordered the moferrato, ciccio with mild salami, Quattro format, scopello and everything was absolutley delicious. We were celebrating a friends birthday and the owner came out with an accordion to help us with the instrumentals. Highly recommend anyone around to check this place out.
I've had nothing but the absolute best experience at La Coppola last night. It was a Friday night and although the seating was limited, our group of four were seated quickly. The woodfire pizza was fantastic - we had the Zafferia Bianca base which was very flavourful from the abundance of garlic and the Scopello red base which was just as good. To finish the meal, i highly recommend ordering their limon cello tiramisu! We were glad to have met the owner, Stefano, and learn about his history in pizza. If you're lucky enough, he'll even put on a piano accordion show! The staff were absolutely lovely here. Highly recommended!
Fantastic little pizzeria! Welcoming and friendly service and atmosphere. We had four different pizzas, all vegetarian apart from the anchovies on the Marinara pizza. They were perfectly cooked, thin, chewy crust, generous but not over the top with great quality ingredients. My favourite was the Ciccio with fried zucchini, fior di latte, on a white base. Kids loved the Margherita but happily tried and enjoyed all the pizzas. Definitely will visit again and will be recommending it to family and friends.
Not bad pizza! Great vibes, really feel a sense of community in La Coppala — only issue was the dough was a little undercooked on both pizzas, unfortunately!
Sadly, I’ll never come back and recommend you try elsewhere too. Save your money and time. Ordered two pizzas had a conversation with the waiter about one, confirmed the order, and my friend literally made a joke asking if she would remember everything as she wasn’t writing anything down. Yet we only got one pizza. Friend’s pizza arrived about 5 minutes later, and placed only in front of her - so figured mine would be there soon. Sadly 20 minutes later when my friend had one slice left and after endlessly trying to get their attention, we had to go inside and ask where it was. We were then informed ‘you only ordered on’ - untrue - so we brought up the recommendation conversation and waiter suddenly remembered. Another 15/20 minutes later, at closing time, my pizza arrived with a whisper of a ‘sorry oops hah’! They were closing, so I had to rush my pizza, after my friend was completely finished, in 5 minutes as staff cleared up chairs around us. Not even an offer of a glass of wine while we waited, or any hint of a proper apology for ruining dinner and instead we were charged the full fare of $77. This is some of the poorest, lacklustre service I have ever experienced. While the pizza was ok, it was rather salty and not enjoyable due to the poor experience. Go to one of the better, nicer and more attentive pizza places in Surry Hills or elsewhere. UPDATE: This owner reply below sadly demonstrates the lack of customer service or care. It’s a shame so much attention to detail, like apparently noting that my pizza came at 9:48, can’t be applied to paying customers at the time.
Perfectly enjoyable local pizza spot, which we've been back to and will continue coming to. The venue is small but charming, and staff are very friendly and helpful.
One of the best pizza I have ever tasted! You feel like you walk into your own kitchen when you enter! The people running it are amazing!! A true Gem of Sydney!
The pizza here is well and truly phenomenal at this cute little family run joint! The garlic prawns were delicious and the burrata was absolutely to die for The stone fire oven is a real treat and it was great watching the pizzas being made before digging in. The service and food was lovely overall and we will definitely be back!
