Amazing!!! One of my favourite places now! I could eat everyday there. The food is amazing. Vegetarian options available. The customer service is nice. You order by a tablet. The atmosphere is good, relax, perfect for lunch or dinner, with friends, couple or colleges. They have two places, one is in the corner for more take away and the menu is a little different, I didn’t like too much these, the place is small but the restaurant is just ON THE SIDE, FIRST FLOOR, and it is the Real One! The best!
Good quality and we'll priced Japanese food, with the option to have mixed lunchboxes that allow you to try several dishes. None of it was mind blowing, but instead, consistently good. There was an error with our tablet and half of our order didn't go through and they picked it up quite quickly, and the food made it from the order to the table quite quickly. No vibe was ok as well, your typical small restaurant in a second floor, like many in the CBD.
Average food. Super slow service I used to love this place for it’s good value Japanese food but sadly standards have dropped recently. Food took really long to arrive with my partners food arriving first and mine arriving about half an hour later. We noticed that other tables had the same problems with one person receiving their food a lot earlier than the others. There was also a big gust of cold wind that kept sweeping the restaurant. When you stand up you feel the heating but it just doesn’t warm the room especially once you sit down. Everyone was putting their jackets and beanies on as it was getting so cold.
Small comfy place to get good japanese food. Service was friendly and helpful. Had the tofu / pork don and salmon skin tempura. Both were tasty and filling.
First time eating here and customer service is friendly and quick. The udon, sashimi, takyoyaki balls, tempura were the best! Unfortunately the ramen was too salty and noodles werent the best and the chicken katsu was crispy but abit mooshy which i didnt like. The salmon size was abit small which i prefer it to be thicker. I would come here again but not for ramen or katsu. The prices have gone up compared to the old prices. The blue lemonade iceblock drink was nice too.
Excellent selection of set dishes. The curry is quite good. The random music in the background includes weird, aggro rap songs and laidback Japanese music e.g. Ayumi Hamazaki, Kenzo etc. It is gets a bit naughty e.g. songs with eff words just ask the restaurant staff to switch to the polite Japanese songs.
I like very much the food, it is very tasty. The staff is friendly too. A nice place to go alone, like me, or with friends : specialy with friend. Just need a better flow of narural air inside ,because people like me enjoys more that fresh air than close areas. UPDATE 4/2/23 Can't resist going again :. The food is very good, the draft beer was super cold perfect. staff again very nice.
I love this eatery, it's easily one of my favourite go-tos in the city for Japanese for the past five years. The food had never disappointed. Delicious ramen and incredibly considerate to separate the karage from the ramen bowl : highly recommend! I don't think they allow split bills.
Third time eating here : First time was super great! Yummy food and romantic atmosphere. Second time was still good but we noticed the portion sizes had been reduced i.e GF chicken terriyaki. Third time was unfortunately a little disappointing. The portion sizes were significantly smaller the GF chicken terriyaki only had 4 small pieces this time and service was a bit slow. The rice also came after we had eaten practically all the dishes.
Kura Kura is a cute Japanese restaurant tucked away in Haymarket. Technically one location, split into two parts. Upstairs has a dining room, whereas the street level part is a smaller, authentic looking dining room and takeaway kitchen that you would typically see in Japan. Because of this, I chose the downstairs area to dine in. It appears that solo diners are seated at the bar area, whereas couples/small groups are at the tables and I understand that the menus do differ between the upstairs and downstairs locations. For the downstairs dining room area, you select what you want to order and order and pay at the front. The menu has a good variety of food choices and the prices are very reasonable for what you get. The food received was of excellent quality, prepared fast and tasted delicious. Overall I really enjoyed dining here and will make this my regular when I am after a quality Japanese meal.
