I studied Math at this tuition for quite a few years, I was even there when there was another person in charge of this tuition. I think that if you choose to make your child learn at the tuition you should read about the consequences of that decision as well. Anyway, this is my story. I learned a lot at this tuition, but I've also cried a lot of tears here as well. I am still ahead of my class in many subjects thanks to Kumon. Kumon taught me how to stick to a schedule and complete things in time, which is important in life. But, I feel that the experience of the tuition has left me emotionally exhausted at times. The booklets I received were no fun at all. There is no fun in entering a tuition, taking your booklet for the day and keeping your head down working for 1 or 2 hours straight. I enjoy more engaging and hands on ways of studying. I was used to studying around noise. I always felt that it was eerily quiet at Kumon and even the smallest sound would make everyone stare at me. I developed some social anxiety due to thinking like this. I ended up doing VCE math work in Kumon when I was in Year 7 or 8. I hated it, I didn't need to know all these these functions. I was doing things that I didn't even need at that point in time. I ended up dreading going to Kumon. I felt sick in my stomach every time I entered through those doors. Later on I tried out for the selective schools at the same time as a friend of mine (who I introduced to Kumon). Neither of us got accepted at first, we got put on the waiting list. But later my friend got accepted. A lot of the teachers at Kumon asked us if we got in and I instantly felt them compare my friend and I as we told them our answer. I used to get especially nervous after this incident, I felt the attitudes and gazes of the teachers change. Maybe it was in my head, I don't know, but I certainly felt that way. I used to hate myself very much at that point in time. I chose to quit Kumon. I tried out for John Monash ( A science selective school) the next year and only got to the interview stage. Unfortunately, my nervousness and low self esteem overtook me at the interview and I didn't get in. I used to get depressed for long periods of time after I didn't get accepted to those schools. I thought that life was meaningless many times as well. I just wanted to be good enough for everyone. I am okay now though. I realized that I enjoy being at my own school. I love that there is so much diversity in my school, no two people are the same. It keeps me surprised everyday. I still don't completely love myself. But, after going through so many depressing things I think that I'm finally a happier where I am now. I'm even considering becoming a doctor or surgeon. So, Kumon has played an important role in my life, both good and bad. I do still enjoy Math though, Kumon didn't make me hate Math, which is why I chose it as my VCE subject for Year 10 this year.

The professionalism, commitment and the approachability of the staff in Kumon Cranbourne have been excellent. My daughter have been a student at this centre and we observed steady growth in her Maths and English abilities. The confidence she could gain after started with Kumon Cranbourne centre is incredible. Though I live in Lynbrook, I do not mind driving to Cranbourne as I prefer giving the best to my kid. The instructor Preethi Ranjith Kumar is approachable, well mannered and a true professional and available anytime whenever I had a concern to discuss. I recommend this program to everyone who wish their kids to excel in their studies.
