I chose Kitchen Excellence a number of years ago to renovate my kitchen and it was the best renovation experience I have had, thanks in particular to Douglas who made the process easy and stress free. We were delighted with our new kitchen, both in the design and in the high quality workmanship as well as the wonderful assistance and advice of all the staff. As a result when I wanted some new work done recently, I didn't hesitate to approach Kitchen Excellence. Again it was a great experience with tradesman arriving on time and producing a beautiful result thanks for the second time to Douglas and the team.
So disappointed by my Kitchen "Excellence" experience. I have renovated multiple properties, and have never written a negative review on any tradesman or any company I have engaged in the past. That is, until I had the misfortune to engage Kitchen "Excellence". I now have made a point to make a negative into a positive experience by taking the time to let others know the deal, so that they can avoid the problems that I have suffered. I hope in writing this, that I save a poor renovator some pain and potentially significant financial loss.. Unfortunately I didn't take my builder's advice and use his joiner, or one that I had used before. BIGGEST mistake. Everything else in my year long renovation went smoothly except for the joinery. I don't even know where to begin, the experience was so strange. I engaged Kitchen "Excellence" to do 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and joinery for 3 bedrooms, 2 living areas and a laundry. As it so often is with joinery, the quote was huge. I didn't get another quote. I hoped that with paying a premium price, I'd get premium quality and service. Boy my naivete now looks embarrassing, as I ended up being the fool who paid premium price and got shabby and careless work and way beyond discourteous service. The moment after I handed over my deposit, the company's attitude to me changed. The sad part about that is that really, after you have paid your deposit with joinery, there is no turning back, and if the company is unprofessional, they really have you over a barrel and can abuse the situation. Please be SO careful in this situation..... What went wrong? The kitchen took approximately 5 months from start date of installation to finish. My builder was held up with his work in so many areas waiting on the joiners. Communication was the second biggest problem that we had with the company. Each time there was an issue, each individual would blame someone else. Because of this it was really difficult to work towards solutions. The biggest and most lasting problem was really the quality of the work: The defects list was long and significant. I'm used to there being multiple and constant problems on a building site, no big deal. What usually happens is that we talk and the problems get discussed and addressed and a solution found. That is not the Kitchen "Excellence" way at all. For example, when the installer was shown the large and multiple chips out of the timber in a shelf in the kitchen soon after installation, he said "It was fine when we installed it". This was not true. There were several other occasions noted by my designer, my builder and I, where the facts did not match what the company were telling us. Where there is no truth, there is no trust. It is difficult to deal with a company that acts like this. Sadly what I am left with now, is the prospect of engaging a new joiner to get at least a new benchtop and / or marble splashback for the kitchen, and to assess how the other joinery can be brought up to an acceptable level of appearance: Noone would enjoy paying for that twice. My designer said that in the history of his career, he has never worked with any company as problematic as Kitchen "Excellence". He has been shocked by their behaviour on this job. The irony of the name Kitchen "Excellence" has become a recurring joke between my designer and I. If we weren't laughing, we might just cry. Anyway, thanks for reading and happy renovating!!!.......Maybe next time: To Kitchen "Excellence": Thanks for taking my money and treating me poorly. Welcome to the era of transparency, where at least I can help others by sharing information. You can try and remove my review, but your biggest problem is that every word is true. Shame on you.
Thank you Brett and Douglas for the wonderful work you did on our renovation. We are more than pleased with the professional service you provided throughout the lengthy process. Personalities are difficult when emotions, and bank accounts are at an all time high, however both Simon and I are so glad we took the advice of mutual friends, and previous customers of yours and hired you to complete the joinery - kitchen, two laundries and three bathrooms and all built in wardrobes. Not only did you take on the job of the joinery, you suggested a theme for the house, aiding in the colour of the beautiful Spotted Gum floorboards, carpet, lighting and blinds, meaning that the entire house flows seamlessly from one room to the next. Our brief was a house that, if sold, would appeal to an older buyer or accommodate a young family like ourselves. Neither Simon or I are professional developers, so your opinion was thoughtfully considered on every point. Our builders were more than happy with the professional and prompt delivery of material on the site as well as your consideration of other trades working to complete the job. So satisfied we were with the quality and work we recently had the home office completely fitted out, again to Kitchen Excellences exacting standards.
