Kirby Melville has been fantastic! We moved from another swim school after we weren't happy with the lessons and Kirby have been nothing short of fantastic. Our son has improved in leaps and bounds - he was very shy and unsure without me in the water when he turned 3 and his teacher Fiona has been amazing. Highly recommend Kirby Melville!
This once was a fantastic swim school for children with additional needs. The swimming instructors were fantastic and the classes being run on a Saturday worked really well for families who have children with additional needs as weekdays are very challenging with therapy and long days at school.nnWhen the new management took over, they really had no real consideration for the families who are already struggling to keep their head above water as it is. The new management moved the classes from weekends to weekdays, which really just doesn't work for a lot of children as the classes started at a time which did not allow enough time to get there. Or it would clash with students who had to attend therapy.nnFamilies who have children with additional needs have it tough enough as it is, yet once again it is those families who have to make all the sacrifices and rush to get to places on time, when time is something that they never have enough of as it is.nnWhat makes it even worse is that the Senior Management did not even have the decency to chat to the parents face to face to explain these changes before they happened, or explain why they were happening, they just hid behind emails and children. They got the on-duty managers, which would still be teenagers or early 20's themselves to pass on the news. Absolutely disgraceful!nnI can only imagine that the swimming instructors are still fantastic and that the new students and parents of those students with additional needs would have no idea how it all evolved to be run on weekdays. I am also thankful for the students that it benefits during the week and those that live in close proximity. But what once was a great sport for my child to attend was removed in an extremely unfair and quite frankly a demoralising way as they still talk about it to this day!nnNo matter which way you look at this, Management thought of no one but themselves when they made this decision. They did not consult with the parents prior to get feedback, they just enforced the change. Sometimes we need to make sacrifices in life and do what is good and what is helping people, especially those with disabilities and additional needs, it isn't all about the money. Sometimes you need to make less of a profit margin but reflect and realise that what you are doing is something great for the community and feel good within yourself for doing it. I guess the new Management, chose money over community.nnYour staff in the pool get 5 out of 5 stars, new management get 0 stars!!! I guess they evens out at 3.nnIn regard to Saturday being noisy, that is a lie! It was always run later in the afternoon when less classes were running and in the time my child attended, I did not witness once, the noise ever being an issue... But feel free to use that as an excuse if you wish.
We’ve used Kirby for years and even rode out the new management change with constant teacher changes which was quite disruptive yet we still committed to their programs. However our experience went downhill even more so when our holiday classes that had been fully paid for weeks in advance were cancelled the day before a long weekend which left me no time to find anywhere else to enroll my child who will now sadly miss out. Speaking to other families, this is not an isolated experience and becoming quite the norm. It’s terribly sad to see a great swim school go down the drain. I would not recommend if you’re looking for a reliable swim school that cares for their students and families.
Great place to take your lil humans, get them happy in the water and learn how to help themselves if they fall in, becomes second nature for them and the teacher's are Awesome n very cool I'm a 1st time nanna and I've gone into the pool with my gradbubba a few times it's great and the water is nice and warm for the babe's x
I send my 2 boys here, this is the best swimming school I seen, the coaches are so supportive and passionate, very patient. And what’s more, the supervisor are also very friendly and keep update kids skills progress from time to time.
