I really like the dimsum dishes here. It's tasty and reasonably priced. Staff here are really efficient in serving and tidying up so be sure that you're really ready to leave because the moment you stand up, they'll start clearing the table. Can't blame them as they're packed on weekends! I have yet to try out ala carte dishes so can't rate 5 stars. Do try the woo kok fried yam , prawn dumplings and char siew bao steamed BBQ pork buns.
We booked a table of 12 to celebrate mums 70th birthday at her favourite local Chinese restaurant. Unknown to us, this was their last night of trading due to their lease not being renewed. Our experience felt like we were in an episode of Fawlty Towers. "I'm terribly sorry but we're all out of Waldorf's". Despite a limited menu, no available soft drinks and dwindling choice of options, what dishes were presented were first class. The staff did their best given their circumstances and most importantly mum was happy! This could have been a one star review but we chose to skip the Waldorf Salad :-
Always packed and busy. This place is best known among the local Asians for delivering a decent level of yum cha with a good turn over that ensures food is relatively quite fresh.
Quite nice yum cha but pricey. Very traditional yum cha menu, fresh tasty dim sum. Dinner is also good, but not cheap. Service can be very hit and miss
It used to be one of the best value for money dim sum places in Sydney. A bit harder to navigate if you don't speak Mandarin or Cantonese,, but the staff try their best .Holiday surcharges apply. , try to be seated on ground floor, as more food choice circulates here than on the upper level. If you are on the top floor, you will be severely limited in what you can find passing by in carts. Unfortunately over the past couple of years, it's just really hard to eat here... Over the course of an hour, the same 3 carts will come by about 4 times and you're still waiting for something new to eat. I want them to take my money and give me food. Don't get me wrong, I'm willing to eat anything... But if it's the same carts over and over, it defeats the purpose of it. My wife and I used to love this place, but now we spend more time waiting for food than eating.
The Tea was good! But that was all. We were excited to try the yum Cha on a Sunday lunch time. After waiting 30 minutes to be seated they ushered us upstairs. A smaller area with a single cart. We waited another 5 minutes for cutlery and another 5 for the cart to come over. We tried a few plates from the limited selected but were sadly disappointed. We were asked if we wanted other dishes but with No menus to order anything else it made it difficult. When it came time to pay it was more expensive than the upmarket yum Cha in China town.
I've only ever been here for yumcha and it's always been lovely each time. I am a big fan of the trolley experience, and I've even had one of the trolley ladies remember a special order I had and asked me if I wanted it as soon as I sat down. The food has been pretty decent every time, and the service, while rocky when it gets busy, has also been pretty attentive and efficient. Fantastic as a local.
So went there today for Yum Cha and it was worst experience ever! Been here numerous times when it was super busy and always loved it but today was worst experience in yum cha ever. First of all I was told to sit anywhere we liked as there was literally only 10 people in the place. Next minute the young manager told me and my partner to move because he wanted us to move to middle table. Then he gave it to a Chinese couple straight after! Again the place was empty, and I mean empty! Then the pork buns had a big piece of nerve and muscle in it and my partner almost vomited so we just left the food and paid $55 for the worst yum cha ever!
We used to like this place a lot. The yumcha and the service used to be good. The old man used to greet us and he was very friendly especially with kids. But the staffs now are different and dislike especially people with children. She prefer old people especially cantonese speaking. She will stared at children rudely . They are not family friendly anymore. Not a good place to celebrate birthday too. Such a shame We waited for 1 hour to get our food ready.
This is our standard Yum Cha place. It is a pretty authentic experience, so if you aren't ready to be culturally challenged maybe go somewhere else. E.g. if you expect everyone to smile, take lots of time with you, and generally treat you like a boss, this isn't for you. I'd about seating upstairs if you can, i think the selections are better downstairs.
